Assault On Arnhem is an operational level wargame for between one and four players, based on the famous Operation Market Garden campaign in September 1944. Each player manages units in either the Allied or Axis forces fighting over the bridges leading to the Dutch town of Arnhem. The aim of the game is to either capture or defend the bridge objectives by a certain time in the game. Assault On Arnhem is an easy game to start playing, although underneath the simple façade lies a much deeper level of complexity. - Up to four player hotseat multiplayer - Cross-platform online multiplayer (two players) - In-game tutorial - Turn based play - Four scenarios (Grave; Nijmegen; Arnhem; Operation Market Garden) - Fog of war mechanics (taking terrain into account). Hide your units in the woods and watch the enemy! - Night time turns with reduced visibility, affecting combat and command. Slip your recon units through enemy lines! - Logistics rules governing HQ supply lines and unit regrouping - Over 110 units of 7 distinct unit types - Three battle scenarios and a main campaign scenario - Three levels of AI difficulty, playing as either Axis or Allies - 3D Map View - Supply drops, reinforcement schedules - Simple enough for a beginner but with plenty of depth for experts Please note this game requires iPad 3 or better. D1vi8 Well-Known Member May 22, 2014 234 5 18 Belgium #3 D1vi8, Feb 25, 2016 Game might be easy to pick up but there are already a few things I don't understand : 1 Allocation of Command Points? As I read in the help section : CP are calculated as followed : 2 for Allied in a scenario, 3 additional point for each top Level HQ that is currently active en 1 point for each subordinate HQ. In the first turn allied units receive double their allocation of CP. In the first scenario I start with 4 CP. Next turn I got 3 CP. When I move my units, next turn I have 1 CP? And when I move my units adjacent to the HQ, next turn I have 3 CP. I don’t understand what the mechanics are? Is a active HQ A HQ that has units in his range? And what is a subordinate HQ? In the second scenario I have 10 CP, next time 5CP (10/2=5), but next turn, after moving units I only have 1 CP? Then I move some units close to the HQ and suddenly I got 5CP again? Maybe it could be that a active HQ (3CP) + 2sub HQ (2CP) = 5CP. So that I understand, but then I wonder where the 2CP for the allied are? But I can't understand why suddenly only got 1CP in both sennarios??? 2 When attacking I can only use attack or retreat, never been able to use Assault or Withdrawal. There is a thread on the Hexwar forum (which I started) about their lack support: https://www.hexwar.com/forums/topic/assualt-on-arnhem-mobil-pc-didfferences/#post-6874 Anyway my 1st opinion of the game...I don't like it on the iPad. Maybe I should have bought the PC version. It has the main problem that I hate about scrolling-map games on touch devices: you intend to scroll the map and end up moving units. And every time it becomes my turn I end up moving the HQ unit by mistake because it is always selected when it switched to my turn. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
