There is a core strategy in the game surrounding elemental weaknesses." -148AppsWhen it comes to fantasy roleplaying games, little beats a good old hack and slash title. Spells are drops, and can be equipped. You initially have 3 gear slots and 3 spells slots. 4 stats that can be explained from the screens. Controls are pretty much tap the monster or click the target button, then tap around to avoid them while you auto shoot. The mechanics behind it are solid and the strategy comes from using the right type of damage for the right kind of monster. Levels play out in an arena style format and you pretty much just tackle waves. Not going to lie, the presentation is is kind of throwing me off. I like the principle behind all of this, but it just isn't fun for me. I am sure a lot of TA members will love it. Its a pretty simple loot based RPG, not bad, but it doesn't stand out enough to me to want to play it anymore. The trailer showed me enough that I have no desire to go back. These are my opinions and I am positive that many frequent TA members will enjoy it. For me a game has to have at least some style / presentation and game play that is fun enough to want to continue playing in my limited amount of time to game. This isn't cutting it. Game did ran flawlessly, no bugs, and I didn't notice a lot of battery drainage. edit - I would look at the spell system less on type and more like RBG color scheme with different effects (piercing, explosive, faster shots) somedumbgamer Well-Known Member May 4, 2013 709 0 0 #6 somedumbgamer, Feb 17, 2016 Thanks for the imps! IllogicalGames Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2014 163 36 28 #8 IllogicalGames, Feb 17, 2016 Hi, its not permadeath. basically you hunt monsters. at the end of the stage, you will earn experience points and loots with different properties. then you can allocate the xp points and equip gears and spells to improve your character. there are 60 levels. as you progress, the monster will get stronger and you will need better gear to proceed to the next level. it will take you long time to finish the game because as the getting, you will need to replay stages to earn more xp points and find better gear. IllogicalGames Well-Known Member Dec 4, 2014 163 36 28 #15 IllogicalGames, Feb 18, 2016 hi thanks for the suggestion, we thought this over and over again and we tried to find a way to implement the dual stick control but it wont fit in. the core of the game is just very different from "Solomon's keep". solomon's keep is a shoot'em up game, aim and shoot. compared to fantasy mage, there are huge elements to consider if we want to implement the dual stick control. main issues are: 1)ELEMENTAL SYSTEM in fantasy mage, enemies are categorized in different elements; water, fire, and earth. and to defeat a certain element, you will have to switch spells. in higher stages, enemies will come with mixed element. to kill each enemy, you will have to switch to their counter-element. we find it hard to kill them using dual stick because you will be busy with switching spells, and targeting monsters. 2)SKILLS when the elemental system already keep your finger busy, as you progress, you will find items that will give you additional skills. skills such as teleport is hard enough to pull, try doing it in dual stick is just a mess. 3)MORE SKILLS Yes as you progress, you will find more loots that will give you new skills. all this buttons at the bottom of the screen is already keep you occupied. even more, some of the skills requires perfect timing. because of this, we think to include dual stick to the game will only make the game harder, nearly unplayable at all. this is why fantasy mage is not like solomon's keep at all. it might look nearly the same, but, solomon's keep is dual stick shooter, while fantasy mage is action-RPG. in short, Fantasy Mage is nowhere near solomon's keep but it is more like diablo, or torchlight. Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #16 Amenbrother, Feb 18, 2016 Dang I love me some Diablo & Torchlight I might need to try this! db2 Well-Known Member Oct 13, 2011 157 2 18 Michigan, USA #17 db2, Feb 18, 2016 This seems pretty good so far. A little rough visually, but it plays nice. If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, it would be nice to have the health bar and skill icons stacked vertically along the left and right edges of the screen to allow for more finger space and visibility when moving vertically. Right now the play area is a bit tight with the enemy health on the top, and the spell/skill buttons on the bottom. stubbieoz Well-Known Member Jun 23, 2015 1,880 358 83 Male Grey haired gamer NSW Australia #18 stubbieoz, Feb 18, 2016 The screenshots show letters over the spell icons. Never have I ever paid for such an amateurish attempt at an IOS game in my life. The design is terrible the menus are terrible the artwork is horrendous. The gameplay feels very sluggish and not having a dual joystick feels very sloppy. I truly for the first time feel I got robbed. Yea yea, I get it, it was only $3. No excuse though. The grammar errors are insane. Very oft putting. I've rarely posted reviews on games here but this one really compelled me to. Avoid this one at all costs. LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,280 1 38 #20 LordShad0wz, Feb 19, 2016 The dual stick could definitely be done and it should be. The tap to move is just really really really really really really really really tedious. Or atleast allow one joystick for movement. You could leave the tap to attack. Please? I think some people are being a bit harsh in this thread. But I do understand the frustration. Billy (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
