I'm too lazy to download this and give it a try. And rather than do that, I would probably just play Hearthstone. I watched the trailer and it looks like a steaming pile. Has anyone played this? touchy85 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2015 1,616 1 38 #8 touchy85, Jan 29, 2016 I did, the only reason to play this and not hearthstone is that this game just launched and everyone has the same crappy starting decks, which make it a bit more fair. gmattergames Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2013 607 42 28 #9 gmattergames, Jan 29, 2016 Or because you are a fan of Kungfu Panda. But yes, a faithful clone for sure. Only problem: no multiplayer yet, says: "coming soon" gmattergames Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2013 607 42 28 #10 gmattergames, Jan 30, 2016 I was mistaken, there is multiplayer, with matchmaker. Totally schooled by first opponent. Here are a few original bits: -By default all warrirors (your summoned units) hit the ground running and can attack the turn they're summoned. -Each turn you can order each warriror to attack or defend (or neither). While attacking is obvious enough, defending is essentialy giving a unit taunt for a turn (the defender must be destroyed before you're allowed to attack the palyer directly). -While the different characters, just like in Hearthstone, have 30 card decks comprised of unique to that character cards and neutral cards, the characters do not appear to have any unique character skills ala the Hearthstone Mage's 1 point fireblast. HOWEVER, this game does something almost as interesting. Each turn, also for 2 mana like Hearthstone character abilities, you can grab a random card out of the Armory. The Armory is where the players can get equipment cards be they weapons, armor, jewelery, or even food (usually for the warriors but sometimes the characters). As far as I can tell this is the only way to get equipment cards in the game as you can't simply include equipment cards in your deck. At this point it is unclear to me if all of the equipment found in the Armory is generic or actually tailored to each character. While a lot of the Armory equipment cards appear generic I once pulled "Shen's Cannon" when playing as Shen and swear Po is the only guy I've seen draw food items out of the Armory. -While some of the game's characters seem to have direct paralells in Hearthstone (the Tigress is clearly the Hearthstone Warriror), many of these characters are pretty unique, like the Viper who appears to have a lot of the Hearthstone Priest's cloning and stat manipulation mixed with some of the Rogue's nastier poison/assassin aspects. soliuz Well-Known Member Mar 3, 2014 138 0 0 #12 soliuz, Jan 30, 2016 Got to the max rank as a free to player in less than a day. Competition is extremely scarce me max rank vsing a brand new player nearly every match. If you want to win pick mantis as your hero, his basic cards you get for free by leveling are extremely broken and the most powerful in the game in my opinion. Overall a fun time waster but a bit of a grind to get new cards. mcrawford620 Member Feb 16, 2014 17 0 1 #13 mcrawford620, Feb 1, 2016 I've been having fun with this one so far, just a couple of days obviously. The post above detailed the most interesting tweaks to the Hearthstone formula. But overall things do seem to be simplified just a little bit, so it's a bit easier for my kids to follow along and play for themselves. It's a nice change of pace from Hearthstone, where everyone's still at the beginning, trying to get cards. Opening new cards and trying them out is still fun, and all that. I'm still trying to figure out how the tweaks affect the strategy. I'm used to in Hearthstone always clearing minions out with my character's face, and keeping my own minions alive as long as possible. I'm pretty sure that's still true, but would be interested in hearing other people's opinions. Also, a lot of spells that do direct damage seem underwhelming and overcosted. Since every minion you play can attack on the turn you play it, you are often choosing between doing damage with a spell, or doing the same damage with a minion, which then stays out. It's a no-brainer that you want to get those minions out as much as possible. The spells just don't do enough (not talking about all the spells, of course; it's just that many of the ones I've tried out just sit in my hand). All of that being said, occassionally I'll draw an item supposedly unique to ANOTHER character (just by looking at the coin symbol in the center of the card) and can't tell if this is intentional or a glitch (like in one game as Tigress I kept getting Mantis Armory items). Actually, I think I might have a clue, am I right in assuming when I defeat an equipped enemy, or lose one of my equipped units, that piece of equipment goes back to the top of the deck? silvergunn New Member Feb 3, 2016 1 0 0 #15 silvergunn, Feb 3, 2016 Yes, you are right about the equipment returning into the armory but its not placed at the top of the armory "deck". Basically, every master have their own set of equipment that try to synergize with their preferred abilities and all equipment cards are shuffled together in the armory along with a singly copy of each master's "Master Scroll". When a warrior is unequipped or is KO while wearing an equipment, the card is then shuffled back into the armory. There are cards, like the Drill Sargent, who destroy equipment. This means that it possible for the armory to be empty at some point although it shouldn't happen often. Since every equipment card is basically a buff to a warrior, and occasionally a debuff or soft removal, the armory then becomes sort of a random toolbox that players can dig into to try and solve difficult situations or finish off their opponents. For example, Po has a lot of healing available to him so it seems normal for him to also have an equipment, the Bodacious Branch, that heals. Let's say you play against Po while using Shen, who doesn't have access to a lot of healing, if at all, then its a good idea to try and find that Bodacious Branch before Po does since he's probably going to heal at some point so you will want to remove the Bodacious Branch option from the armory.
