Run it on a $5 digital ocean server. I can imagine there being more chances of things going wrong than in your average App. Never tried DwarfFortress even though I read a lot about it so I am really tempted, but won't have the patience to trial and error the server and connection side of things. What are your impressions/experiences? zen_mode Well-Known Member Feb 8, 2015 366 0 16 Sydney #9 zen_mode, Mar 10, 2017 Last edited: Mar 13, 2017 Yeah, I run it in a docker container on a $10 linode server (which I also use to host a few of my sites). Installation took about 30 seconds as there's a prebuilt container for Ubuntu 16.04. Literally just running a single Docker command and starting the container. I Think I also had to open the port with Iptables as well but that was it. Runs great, never had any problems. Server is in CA and i'm Aus and there's no latency issues. drelbs Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2009 11,201 7 38 #10 drelbs, Mar 10, 2017 Oh yeah! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
