Pretty cool little racing game. Reminds me of a grounded in reality Jet Car Stunts. Twisty track designs but no crazy flying through the air or doing tricks or anything. Payment model is a little weird. The game is three bucks but there's a "Stars" currency sort of thing in the game. There's "basic" tracks which you can race to your heart's content and beating a certain time earns you a Star for each track. Then there's "mod" tracks which are more complex and give you a modded car that's faster. These mod tracks cost one Star upon completion, or if you restart a race up to 3 times. Basically you can't just endlessly replay those mod races unless you have a ton of stars to burn, which you can buy more of through IAP packs. However it seems that you'll earn enough stars through the basic tracks to then compete on the mod tracks as long as you take each attempt at the mod races somewhat seriously, if that makes sense. Luckithroe Well-Known Member Feb 27, 2010 123 0 0 #11 Luckithroe, Dec 19, 2015 Man guys, I'm not affiliated with this game at all but I am a developer myself. Figure 500 sales (that's being generous) at 4 dollars a pop. You made 2k? Wohoo! But wait - developer tools and fees. Then figure you spent say 80 hours making this game (totally ridiculously modest number).. Point is, if you do the math, in best case scenarios most of these devs are making less than minimum wage in all but the extreme, basically hitting the lottery cases. I want more good mobile games, but I frequent the dev circles, and most of the good devs are moving away for this reason. My point is, I know we as consumers need to flex our buying power, but if we don't show some love/support, the good development will sail without mobile to greener pastures. skylined87 Well-Known Member Nov 9, 2014 457 0 16 #12 skylined87, Dec 19, 2015 I agree with that, but i think what most people are mad about in this thread is the way they chose to monetize the game. If they would have had like a $2.99 unlock option for the modded tracks that would have been much better in my opinion. But the fact that if you don't get a fast time every time you race them detracts from the playability and exploration in the game. I personally haven't played it yet, but I am seriously considering buying it anyways because it looks beautifully made. With a monetization scheme such as this, the game might as well be freemuim. H4nd0fg0d Well-Known Member Mar 30, 2010 1,905 0 36 #14 H4nd0fg0d, Dec 19, 2015 Super great looking game, but the mod track monetization is completely sideways. I grasp that devs need to make a good return, but the implementation of the mod track situation isn't gonna attract buyers and only lend to alienating players on principle alone. I love the look of this game but I can't be a part of this deal. Wonder if the dev is even aware of the consensus opinion of this thread. Another sad situation. Going paid route with a currency / IAP leaves a very sour taste in the consumers mouth. Looks good but no way would I pay an upfront price then also battle a currency system that possibly limits parts of the game! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
