I got these C power ups and dunno what they are for. Also the customizations Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #3 Dailon80, Dec 14, 2015 I love this series! Hoping soon it gets an English translation but at the same time i didn't expect it to be in the us store anyways so at least I can play it even if I can't read a word on the screen 9x16 Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2015 137 0 0 EST/EDT #4 9x16, Dec 14, 2015 I thought I wouldn't be seeing this for another 14 hours, so it appears to be a simultaneous worldwide release as of five hours ago. So far the monetization seems fairly innocuous, with a permanent banner at the bottom, making the game roughly iPhone-4s-and-before shaped. Then the option to watch a video to multiply coins. It also seems to be squarely targeted at more than the core STG crowd, with plentiful help menus and a pretty low difficulty level - so far at least ... I hope it's not a pure score chaser. Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #5 Dailon80, Dec 14, 2015 It's not what I had hoped for and then not knowing Japanese makes it worse for me. I will stick to the paid versions of this game! Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #6 Dailon80, Dec 14, 2015 Earlier my post was only after playing one time but the more I've played the more I like it and the less the language barrier at least some of the important things are in English. Better than I thought initially. Worth a free download for sure if you're a fan of the series 9x16 Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2015 137 0 0 EST/EDT #7 9x16, Dec 14, 2015 Last edited: Dec 14, 2015 So I think my expectations were pretty high, given that the director is Shinobu Yagawa (YGW). Also, this game is arguably the first new CAVE property since 2012, and being F2P, a likely model for their future. But I have to admit to being disappointed with the polygon-based graphics, which while nice and sharp, are kind of lifeless compared to previous Dodonpachis. And I'm not a fan of buying powerups - more so in this case where it doesn't make sense given how straightforward the stage is. On the other hand, although "Ichimen Bancho" translates to "1st-Stage Badass", I'm seeing an indication of more than the initially available stage. I can imagine/hope for the game opening up with time invested, helping to create an integrated Twitter-based buzz. [EDIT: Okay, I've unlocked the second stage, which is much more interesting. Not sure how I did it. Maybe it was 10 playthroughs of the first stage? Clearly, the translated name should be "One-Stage Badass", since it appears each stage is played separately. Also, the game starts in easy mode. Normal, and presumable above need to be unlocked. But again, I have no idea how. And in case you can't get bombs to activate, you need to lift your finger and press on your ship - pressing it without lifting won't have any effect.] [EDIT2: Now I'm not sure what the translation should be, since I've unlocked Spoiler Stage 1-2 with 10 playthroughs of Stage 2. Since it filled Spoiler two of the three slots below the stage name, I assume there's a three-stage mode . As to unlocking the normal difficulty, I completed a stage with no loss of ships and without using bombs, but no joy yet. Maybe more playthroughs are required.] Jaklar Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2010 69 0 0 #8 Jaklar, Dec 14, 2015 Tip Still trying to figure things out, but I know this much: watch the video ad all the way through so you collect the card bonus. If you cut the ad short, no bonus. Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #9 Dailon80, Dec 14, 2015 Thanks for your write up. I was wondering about the bombs I wish it had been a premium but i am finding this one to actually better than I expected because I knew going in it was a FTP and those can be even worse for sure! If I had gone in thinking it would be a premium and turns out it's FTP I would've been super dissapointed. Agree with you on graphics too. Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #10 Dailon80, Dec 14, 2015 Do u have to unlock type b and c cuz I'm not seeing those in options? I'm finding it to be not so easy first few tries but I'm also sick so that's prolly more to do with it. 9x16 Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2015 137 0 0 EST/EDT #11 9x16, Dec 14, 2015 Yup, in the "COMMON CUSTOM" level up options. Each is 100 coins, and appears to require its own level ups. Neither was initially available. Like other things, not too sure what I did to unlock the options. Nekko Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2014 457 0 16 Tokyo-3 #12 Nekko, Dec 14, 2015 Nice. I love Dodonpachi. So, how bad is the f2p system and does this require a constant internet connection to play? I'm probably still going to get it regardless, since you can't pass up Dodonpachi L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #13 L.Lawliet, Dec 14, 2015 It's actually offline able so it's really nice! However this isn't a full fledged game and more like a one stage high score runner. It definitely could be bigger if it gets some good publicity or backing. Nekko Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2014 457 0 16 Tokyo-3 #14 Nekko, Dec 14, 2015 Thanks for the reply. I also think it could be bigger if more people played. Then maybe we could get an English translation. I can't seem to understand what these C powerups do. That and the upgrades. I think the iPhone 5 is the minimum requirement according to the Japanese description, but I don't read Japanese so I'm not sure. If my intuition is correct, it'll work on my iPad 3. I'll try tomorrow to see if it installs. Dailon80 Well-Known Member Nov 10, 2014 3,574 66 48 Program Director/Radio DJ Eos #16 Dailon80, Dec 14, 2015 100 coins that may take a while All good though 9x16 Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2015 137 0 0 EST/EDT #17 9x16, Dec 15, 2015 The game crashes periodically on my iPhone 6 Plus. And its behavior is inconsistent when switching apps. But it was well behaved on my iPad mini 2 for the few minutes I tried it. I think it's a nice upgrade with the new models and the layering. Is running without a hiccup on 6s+. Hoping this is just to whet our whistles for a premium release. FettS1 New Member Jul 9, 2015 2 0 0 #19 FettS1, Dec 15, 2015 Anyone happen to know what level up items under "FIGHTER CUSTOM" do? LordShad0wz Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2014 4,280 1 38 #20 LordShad0wz, Dec 15, 2015 The C power ups are not power ups. Those are the coins. The cards at the end give a bonus amount of extra coins I think. What baffles my mind is there's no English translation but they have "now loading" when the game loads lol Billy (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
