It's not a bad little racer. It's got the usual F2P trimmings. Dual currency, random car collecting, Single use power-ups, SOME timers. One good thing is there are no timers on races, so play till your hearts content. Timers are (so far) on upgrading your vehicle or waiting for a special part. There's a big focus on car collecting in this one. There are tons of vehicles to get. There are different kinds of races to open up also. Standard races, elimination, deathmatch, ect. Playing on the iPhone 6, the game runs pretty smooth. The tracks look good, but the cars seem kind of I dunno, blurry to me? It's definitely worth a download if you have a PH account. My only gripe about the game right now is that I just feel like I've played the game before....many times. I'm kind of burned out on the whole "tabletop" racing theme with paper clips and pencils for borders and big pieces of fruit on the table. It's been done so many times. That's just me though. hellscaretaker Well-Known Member May 27, 2012 1,098 6 38 Im a youtube gamer/streamer https://www.youtube.com/user/touchgameplay #5 hellscaretaker, Nov 30, 2015 But in all honest if it wasnt for micro machines there wouldnt of been all this table top racing you see today, it really did set a bar for others to be compared against NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #6 NOEN, Nov 30, 2015 Oh, for sure! It's pretty disgusting. I'm a bit pissed off, I've just been playing V3 last week with my mates, and it's just really showing it's teeth, so this update is needed. I just want to (and do) pay for my games (once!), but not the €100,- of "lifetime customer value" or however much they calculated. The prices of the car pieces and stat-unlocks get a lot higher per tier, but I'm not seeing the rewards going up at the same speed. What prompted me to share this with you is the crash-race-re-entry mechanic. In certain game modes (battle, elimination) when you crash, you can watch the race-action but need to wait a few seconds before entering the game again. You can skip this waiting for a "mere 5 gems" which is straight up pay to win. Or more: pay to not lose. Again, I have pages(!) of premium games on my ios devices, so I'm putting my money where my mouth is. I *do* know the gaming industry (I'm in it) so I know a studio needs to make a living, and f2p is currently the way to go. But the meta-game around a game (holy shit, opening a pack of virtual toy car parts is fun! - for real! is just as important as the game itself, and this specific, icky version is created by a very smart, very cynical person in an excel sheet, designed to extract the maximum amount of money, at just the right balance of annoyance tolerance and the bright, shiny moments of joy this game does give. I know, I must be old, I just want to pay €10 or €15 and be happy about it. Didn't the people at the new dungeon keeper release a proper version after the shameful stuff they put out there last year? TLR: Chillingo,Codemasters, please remove the timers. And the pay-for-faster-re-entry, that's just a cheap shot. You're a gaming company, and supposed to make fun things that we can then pay an honest price for. Targeting "whales" like this while having the rest grind for the needed gems is sickening. Don't suck out the soul of games with greedy, shifty stuff like this. *EDIT* Looking at it from different angles, I just disagree with the monetisation scheme, the rather slow pace of free unlocks and the insane price one'd have to pay for the whole thing. My discontent stems mainly from inner conflict between *wanting* to pay, but for something else than is on offer. *EDIT2*Wow!, the game just got updated, and one of it's few redeeming factors got removed: game mode selection (it's now behind a pay wall). They *really* want to annoy you into spending more gems, they're doubling down on the suck factor... I found this gem of a quote (pun intended) on the chillingo website, without so much as a hint of self conciousness: "We’re no fan of pay-to-win trickery that ultimately spoils the integrity of gameplay" (here: http://www.chillingo.com/developers/monetisation-analytics/ )..... In the latest patch released today, the energy timer has been removed! I had a good play and can happily confirm it's all back to normal. There is a quick 'would you like to watch an ad' part after each round which is easily and quickly skipped. They've also moved the turn right control under the use power up 'button'. I am pretty sure both turn buttons were once both on the left. Either way, not a great impact. Get into it Dueler!
