That's awesome! BaronWilhelm Active Member Feb 14, 2014 31 0 0 http://www.barcodeofarms.com #10 BaronWilhelm, Nov 25, 2015 Nope, no IAP, no price, just free. I made this game as a hobby and started with the intention of selling it. After three years of working on it, I decided I just wanted to build the game I envisioned and complete the marathon task of finishing. That achievement is enough for me, any posts/reviews/tweets I get from users who are having fun with it is enough payment for me. Reading all of your posts feels really great, so keep 'em coming. I want to know what people are finding out there, where can we find the Legendary items, even I don't know. I did discover a bug this afternoon, the healing cards aren't working properly. A bugfix is already in to Apple for review. Thanks, that one isn't even my favorite I can add sound without music pretty easy, I'll add that to the feature list. That was just an arbitrary decision I made along the way. cnewhall Member Jun 11, 2012 21 0 0 #11 cnewhall, Nov 25, 2015 Wasn't there a gameboy game with a similar mechanic years ago? BaronWilhelm Active Member Feb 14, 2014 31 0 0 http://www.barcodeofarms.com #12 BaronWilhelm, Nov 25, 2015 The inspiration for me was the Barcode Battler. I had one as a kid, but I wanted to take that concept far beyond what was possible then. Thanks to the developer! I never really got the barcode scanner thing though. If I scan a Porsche (not that it probably has a barcode), what is the difference in scanning a box of Cap'n'Crunch? I just don't get the point. Is it the more scans you do, the better the results or something? Other than my doubts about the scanning, the game looks fun and is certainly something I will be trying out. BaronWilhelm Active Member Feb 14, 2014 31 0 0 http://www.barcodeofarms.com #16 BaronWilhelm, Nov 26, 2015 I thought of the donate thing, but was afraid it'd get rejected by Apple. I also pretty much ran out of time to add major new features at the end here. I have a newborn baby in the NICU and needed to wrap things up for an initial release. I have lots of feature ideas that are partially coded or in the works which I hope to add, this is just v1.0 In the world of Code of Arms monetary value of real world items doesn't matter, and that's kinda the fun. Each item you scan is deterministic meaning everyone will get the same item when they scan Capn Crunch, that way you can tell everyone about it! I like to think of it as opening a card pack or a treasure chest, you really don't know what you're going to get. I did find my first Legendary item this evening, it and future items I find are going to be posted to Twitter @BarcodeofArms #codeofarms Repulsa Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2015 1,584 81 48 #17 Repulsa, Nov 26, 2015 Please look into adding a donate feature I would love to pay for this game you easily could have sold this for a few bucks or more and I think you deserve it this is a really fun little game my son and I have had a lot of fun chasing down barcodes all day and honestly it's kinda funny some of the weird stuff we have scanned from jars of peanut butter to a bicycle pump lol BaronWilhelm Active Member Feb 14, 2014 31 0 0 http://www.barcodeofarms.com #18 BaronWilhelm, Nov 26, 2015 This is exactly the story I wanted to hear. My son loves flipping the tiles and finding the fire spells, he calls the game "Monsters" I love knowing you had fun together, your donation is graciously accepted. I'll definitely look at it down the road, I coded a feature where you could buy colored dyes for character customization or just buy items outright in a "shop" both would be IAPs but wouldn't affect the core game concept. Anytime I use a healing card it just flashes the same number and moves on (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
