I'm highly dubious. Reviews are saying its one of the worst pay walls out there. Lunacy182 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2012 135 0 0 #7 Lunacy182, Sep 22, 2015 I'm really enjoying this game. Haven't been able to put it down since I got it. It can be a little grindy at first but as soon as you start to unlock more crafting, dungeon and worker slots then it speeds up a bit. And you can get the starter pack that opens up a bunch of those slots right from the beginning to avoid the grind. Well worth it in my opinion. Tadaaah Member Sep 22, 2015 7 0 0 #8 Tadaaah, Sep 22, 2015 Hi Cronk, There is a free/gold option for every item that is part of the core/meta gameplay. You just have to level up to unlock the option on many of those. Unlocking workers, heroes, and quests are all done in city investments which can be completely done with the use of gold. Poo Well-Known Member Jul 29, 2013 424 0 0 #9 Poo, Sep 23, 2015 The actual game is great personally I love this kind of game. You don't have to spend money but the grind will be long. The pay walls are huge I dropped ten on it and have 5 workers and I'm lvl 10 and won't unlock the next slot until lvl 30 and lvling takes a while. If you can look passed that then the game is good and I'm having a lot of fun with it. The "auction" house works better then any other f2p one I've seen and I'm raking in the coins with early learned items. Poo Well-Known Member Jul 29, 2013 424 0 0 #10 Poo, Sep 23, 2015 And the paywall is just wanting more workers to make more items. If you can be satisfied with what you've got then there is a ton of game to play without paying. Cronk Well-Known Member Jan 22, 2013 620 0 0 #11 Cronk, Sep 23, 2015 Are you high? I played today, quite a bit. Enjoyed almost all of it. But I get viscerally angry every time gear breaks on my guys and it's only repairable by cash shop gems. So no, there is no "free/gold option for every item that is part of the core/meta gameplay". I don't know what's more core than equipping your characters, and gear breaks a LOT. I'd recommend this game easily if it weren't for gems being attached to everything, but most especially being the only repair option for your gear. Cronk Well-Known Member Jan 22, 2013 620 0 0 #12 Cronk, Sep 23, 2015 This was my best equipped guy after 3-4 quests. He had like 1200 ability. I've never once repaired any of my equipment. Just re-made it. Tadaaah Member Sep 22, 2015 7 0 0 #14 Tadaaah, Sep 23, 2015 Indeed, many higher level players will suggest selling higher level roulette items on the Trade House VS equipping since they can break. Then use the items you can remake to equip your Heroes until they don't break as often. Other tips for item breaks: Make sure the item is a green affinity on both the item type (below the slot) as well as item level (shield above the slot). Combine that with making sure your Hero is the recommended power for the quest and you've got a pretty good chance at making it through the quests. Items will still break, but that will give them less of a chance to break. Cronk Well-Known Member Jan 22, 2013 620 0 0 #15 Cronk, Sep 23, 2015 That helps, but it's pretty bunk that there's no way to know that outside of the forums. I don't know how I would be expected to know that. And I find it absurd that I can't equip my guys with the best gear I can get. It goes against everything a min/maxxer believes in and this game kinda caters to that demographic. Yes, I've been doing as suggested and equipping my guys with only replaceable gear (that I can make), but don't blow smoke up my butt bro. The system is set up to screw you. The instant a single piece of gear breaks you lose the set bonus, and I still can't craft even junk pieces of everything (I'm lvl 13 and it'll be a long time til I have all the crafting tables), so I have to go shop the AH for replacement pieces. It's a horrible system designed to nickel and dime the player. I WANT to recommend this game but this system is bogus. No way I'll spend money (or even time on tapjoy) for this game when such a system is in place. Lunacy182 Well-Known Member Jun 20, 2012 135 0 0 #16 Lunacy182, Sep 23, 2015 Cronk, did you jump into a max level town? You shouldn't really be having as much trouble as you are. I'm the same level as you and beaking gear is not a big deal at all. The only thing I can think of is you are in a town trying to run dungeons way above your level. Stick with the lower level dungeons and unlock more items to craft. No need to buy any gear off the AH. Remember the main goal of the game is to run a shop and sell items. The dungeon running is secondary and mostly for high level crafting material. Cronk Well-Known Member Jan 22, 2013 620 0 0 #17 Cronk, Sep 23, 2015 I'm actually carrying the town I joined. Gonna look for another shortly. Does dungeon level affect gear breaking? I only have 3 dungeons to choose from anyways since no one else is investing. I know I'm being a negative Nancy here. I'm not being held back by the gear breaking, I'm getting hung up on it. Equipping characters is such a huge component to RPGs that it's annoying having the gear break fairly regularly. Game is pretty great otherwise. I wish you could automate production/sales, but thats just a preference thing I won't hold against the devs. Laire Well-Known Member Feb 4, 2012 586 0 0 Overworked Graphic Designer :) https://www.facebook.com/Peridot.Weapon #18 Laire, Sep 23, 2015 Yeah, I feel your pain when it comes to gear breaks and frequency. I don't even consider "repair" a valid option; I'd disable the prompt for it if I could. If something breaks, it's time for a new piece of equipment, not a sacrifice of premium resources. Something else that isn't immediately apparent is that "Yellow" gear for a character seems to break almost twice as often as "Green" gear does. But even when you're using proper (standard) gear, everything seems to have around a 3% break check, and when you're doing seven checks per run stuff doesn't last long. I don't really feel I'll be able to try serious dungeon crawling until I get up to six workers (which should be able to cover all eleven of the necessary building types/stations). And even then I'd need a spreadsheet to remember it all. "Let's see, I need to replace two sets of Shoes, one Gun, a Thrown Weapon, a Light Armor ..." Cronk Well-Known Member Jan 22, 2013 620 0 0 #19 Cronk, Sep 24, 2015 Add a 1.5-2x gold value repair cost option. I'd consider paying 600g to repair a 300g item, as a convenience/lazy tax. Offering only the gems cost is my issue. There's options but they don't seem to want to explore them. It's very intentionally "gems only" IPlayGame Well-Known Member May 29, 2015 213 0 0 #20 IPlayGame, Sep 24, 2015 Gameplay by IPlay GameChannel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
