Felipe MGaia Well-Known Member Aug 7, 2013 122 5 18 #8 Felipe MGaia, Sep 17, 2015 Looks awesome, I think this will be my pick of the week. There seems to be some crazy brain-melting mechanics from what I've seen in the preview video! Ravenous Games are always amazing, the only thing that keeps me from saying they are perfect are the virtual pads. I'd love to give them a try with an MFi some day. redribbon Well-Known Member Jun 11, 2010 2,799 53 48 entepreanur, programmer #9 redribbon, Sep 17, 2015 Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Felipe MGaia Well-Known Member Aug 7, 2013 122 5 18 #10 Felipe MGaia, Sep 17, 2015 Nice, thanks for the video! Level design looks better than ever indeed. I'm sold! This one looks better and more original! redribbon Well-Known Member Jun 11, 2010 2,799 53 48 entepreanur, programmer #12 redribbon, Sep 17, 2015 yep agree with this. one of the best release this week and for a buck its a steal. controls are spot on on touch screen and very responsive. The comtrols seem really good indeed and I think it could also be fun to speedrun this game. I'll probably take this one this week. Just looking if I missed anything big. Pipipitchu Well-Known Member May 4, 2013 1,644 0 0 Civil Servant Rio de Janeiro, Brazil #14 Pipipitchu, Sep 18, 2015 So any impressions? Geertyy Well-Known Member Apr 15, 2013 283 0 0 #15 Geertyy, Sep 18, 2015 I have only had time to play a few levels so far, but I guess I coule already say a few things. The controls feel really good, which is important for a platformer. It's really simple, two buttons to move left and right and two buttons to jump and switch gravity. To execute that right for each level at the right time is pretty hard though, which is where the challenge lies. In each level you can get three stars if you beat a certain time limit, for which you really have to be on your toes. You can also find a plastic duck in each level, but they haven't been hard to find so far, and you do not have to finish the level in order to have officially 'found' the duck. You only have to touch it. (So not like the briefcases in league of evil for example). I think the visuals and sounds are good, and it feels like a well polished game. I've read that there's also hats to buy and stuff, so a lot to unlock. I'd have to play further to see if the game offers enough new challenges and stuff to keep you interested, but for 99c. I think you can't go wrong on this one. Hope that helps a bit. bacon-N-eggs Well-Known Member Mar 17, 2012 265 4 18 #16 bacon-N-eggs, Sep 18, 2015 Last edited: Sep 18, 2015 Yes and YES, I loved the first one. Controls are spot on, but the mechanics will take a little bit to get used to. The first one feels like a demo of a great puzzle platformer... This feels like a full blown game. The addition of the jump button and the collecting the hidden ducky and the speed run 3 star system makes it feel highly replayable a lot like their league of evil games (none being as good as the first IMHO.) Anyways at $1 it's a steal and really we need to support full games like this with no IAP, no ads... Great controls, and iCloud! Hats on HATs to collect as well, a lot of playtime for little money... It's a small file size as well. No good reason to not pick it up Geertyy Well-Known Member Apr 15, 2013 283 0 0 #17 Geertyy, Sep 18, 2015 Couldn't agree more. The only thing I'm missing currently is leaderboards. Then it would be perfect! The game really reminds me of the good old Mikey shorts and Mikey hooks games Felipe MGaia Well-Known Member Aug 7, 2013 122 5 18 #18 Felipe MGaia, Sep 20, 2015 I've finished it this afternoon, and my final impression is that this game is AMAZING! The levels, as I had said before, are really well-crafted and the difficulty ramp is smooth and pleasant. Each new island starts slowly, introducing a new mechanic (jump, float, teleport and phase) that you'll have to learn to use in conjunction with the gravity-flip one, and then things will progressively get satisfyingly challenging towards the last level. There's no time for things to get repetitive for each new mechanic gives a nice refresh to the game. The controls are very good, and this is a great compliment coming from someone who dislikes on-screen pads. I believe there's a cap that limits how good a game's controls can be when using them, but these guys have certainly reached that cap and are standing very comfortable on it. They're very responsive and match the game's challenge pretty nicely. Also, it may be just me, but there's something in the simplicity and the idle face of that duck that makes me love him. In my world, this passively charismatic guy could very well be a 16-bit mascot up there with old Sonic or Mario haha. He's so cool when he's inflated! All in all, this is one of the best puzzle-platformers you can get on your mobile device, and for 1 miserable dollar everyone who likes this kind of game should get it. bacon-N-eggs Well-Known Member Mar 17, 2012 265 4 18 #19 bacon-N-eggs, Oct 2, 2015 Has anyone been able to get iCloud to work?
