This one is quite a bit different than the Heroes games. It's faster, simpler, and more action oriented. hellscaretaker Well-Known Member May 27, 2012 1,098 6 38 Im a youtube gamer/streamer https://www.youtube.com/user/touchgameplay #5 hellscaretaker, Sep 2, 2015 Now what i found very odd i got to mission 21 so far and died a few times and i see there is a refill option yet i dont see any energy counter to stop me... infact i seen no splash adverts ether apart if i want to have another go then i can watch advert to get a refill. Well, not necessarily harder, but deeper. I liked your other two, but found the strategic options pretty limited. What keeps Swap Cops from being more of the same? Also, why free? Is there an unlock IAP? hellscaretaker Well-Known Member May 27, 2012 1,098 6 38 Im a youtube gamer/streamer https://www.youtube.com/user/touchgameplay #7 hellscaretaker, Sep 2, 2015 Well there is IAP ie coin doubler and energy refill but as i said before i not come across energy as yet... and im 21 in.,.. Chris Savory Well-Known Member Oct 23, 2014 46 1 8 Game Developer Vancouver, BC http://www.savorygames.com #8 Chris Savory, Sep 2, 2015 There are no energy mechanics of any kind. You can retry a mission as many times as you like. I assume you're talking about the revive option. This brings your team back to full health and does not reset the mission progress. You get 5 free and then you can watch ads for revives as well. hellscaretaker Well-Known Member May 27, 2012 1,098 6 38 Im a youtube gamer/streamer https://www.youtube.com/user/touchgameplay #9 hellscaretaker, Sep 2, 2015 ah my bad i stand corrected Chris Savory Well-Known Member Oct 23, 2014 46 1 8 Game Developer Vancouver, BC http://www.savorygames.com #10 Chris Savory, Sep 3, 2015 Hey Oscar. Firstly, thanks for playing the first two Swap Heroes, appreciate that. Swap Cops is definitely a move in a more casual direction. Before I leave the swap mechanic and move onto something brand new I wanted to make a version that was faster, simpler, and most of all free. Swap Cops is built to be snappier and more accessible. I went free for those reasons, as well as for my own learning. I've never made a game with IAP or ads before so I wanted to go through that experience. There is no 'unlock' IAP. There are no energy mechanics and no forced ads (only optional). The IAP are mostly for coins which give you the other characters early but hopefully nothing feels pushy or mandatory. Was stoked to see your tweet the other day. And I'm loving this new Swap. Very clean, Arcade style. However I will always love the style of the first two. As they feel more rustic. Hope to see this one on the Featured Page tomorrow! Best of luck to you. sinagog Well-Known Member Aug 15, 2014 937 0 0 #13 sinagog, Sep 3, 2015 I've already played and dug all your other games, but empathising with potential early players, the game's mechanics of learning each character's special moves and utilising them at the exact right time don't become apparent until a few levels in. It might seem a bit silly and mindless at first, before it flourishes into its own addictive beast. I would recommend adding a little tutorial, or at least a bit more introductory text so those early players truly get this game's hooks sunk into them. Otherwise, I actually prefer this to the other Swap Quests, simply because it seems to have more content. I do think they could all do with an Endless mode, though, rather than just missions., or some kind of randomly generated thing. Something to draw the freemium crowd back and back again. Do those missions really go on forever? If so, I guess the whole game is kind of an endless mode. Chris Savory Well-Known Member Oct 23, 2014 46 1 8 Game Developer Vancouver, BC http://www.savorygames.com #14 Chris Savory, Sep 3, 2015 Thanks, Rezn! I'm actually quite nervous, it's another brutally competitive week. Too many people are making good games now Chris Savory Well-Known Member Oct 23, 2014 46 1 8 Game Developer Vancouver, BC http://www.savorygames.com #15 Chris Savory, Sep 3, 2015 I think you're spot on with that feedback, sinagog. I'm such a believer in tutorials being as light as possible and in that thinking I didn't want to expand the tutorial to introduce each character's skill but for the casual user who has never played a Swap game before, I might leave them missing out on the more interesting parts of the game. The missions go on forever as they keep following a pattern and slowly increasing the difficulty of the enemies so it is kind of a big endless mode but I still agree with your thinking of a more condensed fast paced endless mode where you post a new score in a few minutes. If the game does well enough, I'll look into an update with that mode. Thanks a lot for putting it in my mind. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #16 Exact-Psience, Sep 3, 2015 Im actually enjoying this more than the first 2, but it's not without its share of flaws. For unending procedurally generated levels, it means everything just becomes more difficult. Without a means to reset or roll back a few levels, there's no way to lessen the difficulty if it reaches a certain point. All characters have limited progression and development, which means you will get stuck forever at a late point. I havent tested, but do we keep the gold earned during failed stages? Coz if not, it may be impossible to progress later on as we'll be stuck between spending gold to upgrade to progress, and trying to save to unlock stronger characters. Without the doubler, you'll get stuck earlier. These flaws ive pointed out are long term, but it's difficult not to see them. On the bright side, the faster, simpler mechanics in this, plus the scifi setting makes this a very enjoyable title for me. Hopefully i dont hit the impenetrable wall later on. To clear some things, the wall im referring to is NOT a paywall. Eventually even if you have the best characters for your strategy the game will still become too difficult to overcome it seems. Chris Savory Well-Known Member Oct 23, 2014 46 1 8 Game Developer Vancouver, BC http://www.savorygames.com #17 Chris Savory, Sep 3, 2015 Hey Exact-Science, You bring up some valid points. Fortunately you do keep the coins you get even if you fail a mission. It also provides you with the option to watch ads for 50 coins on every second death which should accelerate your upgrade or saving for a new character. Also, if you use up your 5 free revives, you will occasionally receive an option to watch an ad for a revive which should help push you through a particularly hard mission you're dying on too often. Lastly, the design of the missions is not one where mission 78 is harder than mission 77 which is harder than mission 76, etc. There is an up and down design so if you beat a particularly hard mission, you might be given an easy run of about 4 missions after that, that you blow past and earn lots of coins from. Eventually, yes you will reach a point where the enemies just do too much damage and your upgrades have stopped. This shouldn't occur until around mission 200-250+ though, so I tried to give players a very lengthy runway. Thanks for playing! Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #18 Exact-Psience, Sep 3, 2015 Nice, thanks for clearing that up.
