Angry natives and rival powers can encroach upon your territory. You'll have to overcome your foes with superior military strategy and wily diplomacy. Only then can you launch your revolution and declare your independence. Colonization, The newest strategy game from Sid Meier continues the great tradition of Civilization. —User Reviews— “The game is a rich and varied Gestalt of top colony activity. Strategies must be divined with care, and constantly modified to ride the chaotic rapids of the thousands of interactive elements in this opus of creative genius. Perhaps. Or it could just be a damn fine game.” “Colonization offers hours and hours of entertainment. I played it for over a week to write this review and it commanded my total concentration all the time to play it once through. Because the game can be very different every time you play it, this means that Colonization is the sort of game you could play for ever.” FEATURES • Manage your growth, development and trade to create a powerful nation. • Pit your strategic skills against Colonization's advanced artificial intelligence. • Play either the French, English, Dutch or Spanish colonial powers each with distinct characteristics and political situations. • Customize your games and choose your own level of difficulty so you never play the same game twice. • Discover and explore the Americas or create your own scenario with a random map generator. • Same design principles and interface as award-winning Civilization, making game play easy and fun. This hardly seems legit to me, unless it's just a super sloppy port. And the 13mb download size doesn't help convince me either. ojtitus Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2010 3,228 5 38 Male Canton, Ohio #4 ojtitus, Aug 22, 2015 Last edited: Aug 22, 2015 It looks like an official port since it has the Retroism icon on the app icon and they are they current rights holder to this game, just nothing done to rework any of the graphics from 1994. So I ended up buying it and from my few minutes with it, it does indeed feel like a sloppy port of the game with a relative touch mouse cursor and pop-up keyboard as the way of interacting with the game. Overall I am enjoying playing it so far although at first it was a little frustrating learning the controls etc. A very in depth game. geoelectric Well-Known Member Apr 22, 2010 464 22 18 San Jose, CA #9 geoelectric, Aug 27, 2015 I don't know. This was the worst game of the Civ family, at least until Beyond Earth came out. Between that and what sounds like an unfortunate port, think I might pass. This will keep me busy for months to come# korossyl Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2013 267 0 16 #11 korossyl, Sep 1, 2015 Is anyone getting this to work on a 5S? I can't get past the introductory cs, the one after setting the player name, etc. Keyboard and tap stop working as well. Anyhow, this was an OUTSTANDING title, similar to Civ but different enough to feel original and fresh, with a different set of strategies and skills required. Even a mediocre port would be a great gift to iOS gamers. Snotty128 Well-Known Member Jul 26, 2013 654 0 0 #12 Snotty128, Sep 1, 2015 That cut scene sure takes its time. I think i used to skip it with the escape button, which is missing from the keyboard. I think if i keep spamming the space bar and clicking randomly i can get through it. Dont get your hopes up though, its barely playable even if you do manage to get through the cut scene korossyl Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2013 267 0 16 #13 korossyl, Sep 2, 2015 Well, there IS an Esc key, if you hit Fn on the keyboard first. But the cs isn't just long -- it doesn't end, ever. Man, I wish I could get this to work. A terrible port of this game is still way better than every Angry Bird put together. Having said that good news is my games I play a lot more are okay including TWEWY and FFVII. Anyway hope this gets fixed as I actually like this game and was in the process of learning it better. It's terrible and almost ruins the game before I can start. There is good news update to 9 and you won't have to put up with the cut scene cuz you won't even be able to play it anyway. Didn't mean to reply to myself sorry about that error anyway meant to add that Secret Of Mana doesn't m work either on my ios9.1 and in all these games it's the same it crashes as soon as you open it! Requesting assistance from any of the iPad/iPhone players who have worked out all of the controls for this port. The drop down menus are unresponsive for me but I have managed to activate most functions through mouse-clicks/keyboard controls. The one thing that I can't work out how to do off-menu is 'Declare Independence'. Are any of you able to illuminate a fellow-colonizer on this?
