I like puzzle games that are played game board, that gets progressively more complex as you advance, like this one is. The game is easy to understand and the play area is always clear which is also good. What I don't really like is timers in my puzzle games "personal preference", but the timer element is pretty integral to this game and is well implemented here. Another con with this game is that I feel like it may become luck based as the game board gets bigger and you will just make combos without really planning because your under time pressure. Over all I had fun with this game and I will be going back to it. I want to spend more time with it and see if the game is actually luck or skill based. I think it may be a bit of both but not sure. I also wanna try and top the leaderboard TrueBlou Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Mar 20, 2014 269 0 16 Software Developer - witenoiz.com Scotland http://www.witenoiz.com #3 TrueBlou, Jul 12, 2015 Hi, and thanks very much for the feedback it's truly appreciated. You are spot on that when the board gets bigger there are opportunities for lucky moves but these can easily backfire on you. The bigger the board gets, the more red tiles there are. So if you haven't planned out your move you can very quickly and very easily get massive amounts of your score taken away and of course lose a life in a single move. Strategic planning is really the best way to maximise your score and ensure you keep advancing through the levels. Unless your some ridiculously lucky person, I'm not The timer isn't something that can be changed as the game is, as you say it's pretty integral to the structure of the game. I had thought about some sort of "Endurance" mode without a timer and when I figure out the balance it'll likely be added. The original draft of the game had a level based structure, with each level having its own unique challenges set out at the beginning. But honestly, there's so much time involved in doing it that I wanted to test the waters first. Just to see If there's enough interest in the basic style of the gameplay. If there is then I've certainly got some ideas on fleshing out the game some more. PBSNellie Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 1,381 168 63 Southern CA #4 PBSNellie, Jul 12, 2015 This is a challenging high score chaser. The timers give a sense of urgency while trying to plan the best move without messing up your score by hitting a red without a green. The graphics are clean and colorful. I think an endless mode might be a future option but might slow down the game a bit, however it is very enjoyable In its present state. I'm in complete agreement regarding an endless mode (at least a timer free one anyway), I've tried a couple of things with it but so far I'm just not happy with the balance of the game in an endless mode, which is why I have left it out, for now. I do have an idea or two for further development of the game, but I suppose it'll depend on if there's a user base there to justify spending the time to program them in. Probably not but I'll end up tinkering away in my free time no doubt. As in my opinion you are by far the most qualified to give a good, valuable and hopefully honest reply. The game is currently priced at £1.49, which I think off the top of my head is $1.99 U.S and whatever that works out at in your local currency. Anyway, as I'm always open to suggestions and such, I wondered if you consider that a fair price, or considering the quality of some of the games its up against, should the price be lower? For that matter, do you think it's worth paying for at all? Thanks in advance for your feedback, I appreciate any and all opinions. There are no adverts of any kind and definitely no iap. As far as I'm concerned if you pay the full price for a game then that's that. You own the game and anything and everything else that gets made for it in the future. It's different if it's a free app, but even then I generally just have one iap to upgrade to the full paid game. Anyway, there's a video on YouTube of the game in action. It's an old video, from when the game was still being toyed with, so the release version differs in that it doesn't (currently) have the mission style level based game mode. Instead the available game has one game mode to keep things simple but it's an endless game that dynamically adjusts the difficulty as you progress through the game. The actual gameplay however is exactly as in the video so you can get an idea of what it's about. I'm in the process of doing a video for the released version. It won't differ much, just take out the section mentioning the missions. Wow, there must have been a shorter way to say all of that, but my medication has kicked in so I'm waffling along Here's that video link. http://youtu.be/XSzYS12nRqE Valentia Well-Known Member Patreon Gold Jan 20, 2009 618 1 18 Female Retired! Maybe it's because I've been a gamer for 30 odd years and I've got most of the consoles that have been released. I've never really questioned the price of (most) games. I've always understood that a lot of work goes into them and people want wages after it all The pricing on the AppStore baffles me, I don't mind if I have to pay a higher price for a game If it's a quality release. Especially now with some of them, I can hook up my c.t.r.l.i controller and get as good an experience with some games as I can get on my ps4/Xbox one or Wii U. So why should those developers be forced to drop their prices to such ridiculous levels when people will happily pay significantly higher prices for a console game. Honestly some people spend more on a coffee than they will on a game. This is the gospel truth, it wasn't one of my games, but I remember reading a review for a free game a while back on the AppStore. I forget which one it was but I do remember it being good. Anyway, the review said how much she loved the game and that she would be playing it for a long time. But she was only giving it 2 stars because it had advertising in it. She said if the developer removed the adverts it would get 5 stars. Now I hate adverts as much as the next person, but how then was that person to make a living by just giving away their work for free with no revenue whatsoever. It's crazy, do these people go to their work every day for free? I doubt it. Wow I've gone off on one again, I really shouldn't post when I've had my morphine now you know why I hardly post on here TrueBlou Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Mar 20, 2014 269 0 16 Software Developer - witenoiz.com Scotland http://www.witenoiz.com #16 TrueBlou, Jul 12, 2015 Thanks very much for that feedback. I downloaded it last night when I was checking to see if you had any other apps out. (I always do that when I find a game I like--I figure a dev who has made one great game may have others, too. I find a lot of good apps that way.) I just played it for the first time and I love it. Yes, you should make a thread for it! It's really nicely done--attractive and enjoyable, plenty of achievements to work toward, and 2 different modes. I love word games as much as I love puzzlers, so this is quite a treat for me! It's the sort of game I put on all my devices, because it's perfect for a nice long word wallow on my iPad, and equally great to have on my iPhone or iPod touch for playing in doctors' waiting rooms and grocery lines. I'm really delighted I found it! And, seriously, that start screen is just so cool! I hope you enjoy the cup of coffee I just bought you. I have to tell you that I feel it doesn't matter that it isn't a groundbreaking concept. I think the fact that it is an elegant interpretation of a solid concept is plenty! It's well-done, and the crisp graphics are so pleasing to my unfortunately aging eyes! I like your games and I like your philosophy re: ads, etc. And these ARE quality releases! I'm enjoying your work very much. So much so, in fact, that I'm going to go play another game of Wurds right now. My take on it is I pay for my data. It's not cheap. Over time a game with ads can cost way more than if I purchased the game up front like I've done all my life. I don't like the idea of some developer making money off of my data which in turn I have to pay for. Any game that is paid and comes with ads or the fake rewards that cannot be completely disabled gets removed. I doubt it. Wow I've gone off on one again, I really shouldn't post when I've had my morphine now you know why I hardly post on here
Thanks very much for that feedback. And WOW, it's unusual to hear people say they want to pay more for games. How refreshing to hear
Wurds has one of the coolest start screens I've ever seen! That is seriously neat.
If a game is good I will pay to remove ads and if they don't have that option I remove the game. Billy
Yes, what Billy said. I employ the exact same policies and sentiments on games with no option to pay to disable data draining ads. Delete, delete, delete...
Awwwww, give over, you'll make me blush I'm really happy you are enjoying the games and that will definitely be the best cup of coffee I've had today, and I drink a LOT of coffee It's funny, I have the same sort of feeling with puzzlers and word games. They are just so perfect for filling in those little moments when you are stuck somewhere waiting or just need a little distraction. That's why I make them, all my games start out as something I want to play. I figure if I wouldn't play it then neither would anyone else.
