I think it's an excellent roguelike and the dev deserves support for this. jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #3 jsrco, Jun 19, 2015 Only difference I have noticed is the lack of landscape mode. The dev already stated that it's coming. Best rogue like in the store though. Played this so much and have only gotten to the 19th floor of 25. Pretty sure you have to make it out once you hit 25 too. I think I should begin reading wikis about this game soon... jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #7 jsrco, Jun 19, 2015 Beating the third boss unlocks the 4th class, beating. All of them play slightly similar in the long run. Beating the second boss gives that class a book of mastery. When you start a new game with that class you always start with that book. At least the old version did. Even when selecting the classes they have another tab next to the descriptions. Each class has two sub classes which will drastically effect your play style if you want to survive. Haven't beaten the 4th boss but I am guessing there are 5 total then you have to make it back out. Beat the game and you unlock the challenges.... No clue there. Even with the wiki this game is hard. Sometimes you are just going to die because of bad luck. This has topped off as one of my favorite games on the device. I love how it both feels so familiar to the classics like Rogue and Nethack but actually has a lot of totally original mechanics. My only whine so far, how come the in-game description of identified items NEVER covers the various modifiers? Like when I look at the description of my "Leather Armor of Bounce", it covers the basic leather armor in great detail but says nothing about the "bounce" aspect. Having looked at the Wiki I can tell you something super basic about the Challenges, they're basically a series of clever handicaps you can have the game force on your to make the game EVEN MORE challenging (not sure if you can enable multiple challenges at once or if you can only choose 1 at a time). While not completely sure, it looks like, at least in some cases, playing with these challenges enabled can, in a way, actually net you MORE gold from your runs. gamer300 Well-Known Member Feb 11, 2014 193 0 0 Europe #9 gamer300, Jun 20, 2015 Bought even though i had the free one. I really feel sorry for Watabou for this release. It's the most popular RL on Android with a large community and here it is buried with no coverage. I emailed the Admins anyway, so hopefully the issues with this thread will be fixed and its gets the coverage it deserves. I know I've personally been waiting years for this to hit iOS as RLs are the only genre I'm into these days. I almost switched to Android at one stage to get this, then realised that would be over the top. So you can imagine I was pretty happy when the unofficial port came out of nowhere a few weeks ago. jeanreno Well-Known Member Aug 2, 2009 59 0 0 Brisbane, Australia #15 jeanreno, Jun 22, 2015 Absolutely phenomenal game, and finally on iOS. Thanks - seems like a game I'd appreciate. gabikun Active Member Jan 22, 2012 43 0 0 #17 gabikun, Jun 25, 2015 I beat the game with all the classes except the rogue back in the day on android. Once you play, you realize that this roguelike is tough but fair when comparing with others. For example, if there is a room with a barricade, it is 100% verified that there is a way on the same floor to break that barricade. Same with other special rooms which I won't spoil. What I really like about it is that you can indentify equipped items by number of turns instead of using the identity scroll (which also exists). It's tough, and regardless of your class, gear is an essential way to win. I am a huge fan of rogue likes - especially true rogue likes with incredible replay value - and Pixel Dungeon has this in spades! I understand the criticism of the dev charging $2.99 on iOS while the Android version is free but honestly it's worth even more if you love rogue likes as much as I do. It's mercilessly difficult at times but keeps you coming back for more. The amount of polish is great and the game has plenty of "modern" features like quick-running to a spot while still having those features I feel are critical to a rogue like - random potion and scroll assignments each game, a great procedural level generator, and lots of choices for the player to make to stay alive. If you like rogue likes do yourself and the dev a favor and buy this - it's a bargain at $2.99 for the enjoyment you'll get out of it! Back to the Pixel Dungeon for me! jjcinema New Member Jun 11, 2015 2 0 0 #20 jjcinema, Jun 29, 2015 How is this game not more popular?
