In Alphabear, you spell words by selecting letters on a grid. When you use letters that are next to each other, bears appear! The more letters you use in an area, the bigger the bear gets, and the more points you earn. Perform well enough, and you might just a win a bear of your own to keep forever. Bears that you win can be used as powerups in future games! They increase the points you earn for using certain letters or spelling certain words, extend your timer, increase or decrease the frequency with which letters appear, and more! Appreciate you playing Alphabear. Right now it is still in soft launch. Worldwide release is still a little bit out! But if you do get a chance to play, I'd love to hear what you think. Feedback is super welcome. All the best, Danc. Cccee Well-Known Member May 8, 2012 250 0 0 #6 Cccee, Jun 18, 2015 Do you have any promo codes? Would be glad to try it. More soft launches should happen in the U.S. If you were to offer a promo code I would gladly make an in-app purchase or two fiskadoro Well-Known Member Jan 1, 2009 326 17 18 Chicago, IL #10 fiskadoro, Jun 18, 2015 Disappointed not to see this in the U.S. store, especially since TA had it in their "out now" list, but oh well, I'm sure it will be here soon so I'll keep an eye out for it. When can we expect the full retail build to be released? You can't complain if it's free, but I'm not buying anything in a game if I can't remove a purposely restrictive timer. I'm ready to try this out but skeptical. Great developer so we'll see... It's a fun word game; like Boggle and others we've seen but with the bears taking up space like Triple Town and with new bears to acquire like Crossy Road. I'll probably buy the unlimited moves for $4.99 as the timer is a tad frustrating as a F2P model. They limit the number of video ads you can watch per day to get free honey/coins (used for attempts), which kinda sucks. It's cute and fun although not necessarily groundbreaking. The bears level up to 100 so it will take you a LOOOOONG time to level them up and collect them all. Fans of strategy/word games will like it. There are also variants on the levels like timer levels and "small word" levels. That adds some unique gameplay elements. There are also daily puzzles. It does require internet connectivity though. Give it a try and decide for yourself if it is worth $4.99 or some IAP. Side note: Is Road Not Taken not coming to mobile? Danc Member Jan 20, 2012 11 0 0 #15 Danc, Jul 9, 2015 Alphabear is out worldwide as of today! What a relief to launch. Hope you enjoy playing it...we put a lot of love into the little details. It's got that typical Spry Fox charm all over it, especially the phrases you get at the end of each level using some of the words you used. My favourite so far was all about how wonderful TEEN MOTHERS are. Unfortunately I forgot to save it. Still waiting to see how onerous the F2P elements are. My maximum "honey" seems to be set at 120 and regenerate at a rate of 1 per 2 minutes or you can get 50 for watching a video ad. Very early on, I already have a level which needs 100 honey to play. That means I get one chance then a 3h20 wait before I can try again unless I watch 2 video ads. EDIT: the always on internet connection requirement for a single player game is rather annoying. Is that required even if you purchase infinite honey? fiskadoro Well-Known Member Jan 1, 2009 326 17 18 Chicago, IL #17 fiskadoro, Jul 9, 2015 Just to confirm: if you buy the infinite honey, the bears will still sleep and you'll still need coins to wake them early? Early on in the game, it's fairly cheap, but I'm worried that later there may be rare bears you need to complete certain levels who sleep for hours/days and cost many coins to revive. In other words, are there going to be times later in the game when simply repeating a level will be prohibitively expensive and need extra coin purchase, or will revival of bears always remain affordable throughout? sugamouth New Member Sep 19, 2014 4 0 1 #18 sugamouth, Jul 9, 2015 Absolutely loving this game. The "infinite Honey" IAP was well worth it just to support the developers. Fantastic stuff, can't wait to add more to my budding bear collection. AppUnwrapper Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2011 4,062 3 0 http://www.appunwrapper.com/escape-games/ #19 AppUnwrapper, Jul 9, 2015 I was getting into this game until all the different currencies started getting in the way. You need honey just to play a level? And then honey/coins to wake a sleeping bear? I don't even know why the game took 70 honey from me and didn't reward me with the bear at the end. I liked Triple Town, too, but didn't let myself get too sucked in, knowing that there was always the option to buy coins to improve my game. I get that the market these days isn't friendly to premium games, but I can't help but think these games could be vastly more enjoyable as a trial version plus full game unlock instead of having a bunch of different currencies you can buy. Oh well. Stustaff Well-Known Member Oct 28, 2010 101 0 0 #20 Stustaff, Jul 9, 2015 Played for 20 minutes. Did something else for an hour went back o game and it showed title screen again and has not recorded my progress so I'm back at tutorial! Anyone suggest if it's just me?? Or what happend?
