Pixel Dungeon is a traditional roguelike* game with pixel-art graphics and simple interface.Explore the depths of Pixel Dungeon, collect useful items, fight fierce monsters to find Amulet of Yendor (surprise!) - the ultimate artifact of this game world.*From Wikipedia: "Roguelike is a sub-genre of role-playing video games, characterized by random level generation, tile-based graphics and permanent death."Many people consider this game very difficult and luck-based. Anyway, you will die often. You are warned! :)Pixel Dungeon is open source and free software. Especially at the grand old price of free. Haven't heard much of it before so did some googling and it reads pretty well. Will be grabbing it. Interested to see if anyone's got any prior playtime with it since it's open source. Edit: So I gave this a go, and I've got to say it's a pretty neat little game. It's full definition of roguelike really. If you die, you start again from scratch. It's kind of like wazhack (obviously not by the art), in that you pick up potions and what not with unpredictable effects. Do you drink that potion or this it? And if so what happens. Take that black potion when your down at a quarter life points or not. What I truly found refreshing is that you can zoom in and out of the map. While zooming in on a pixel art game seems a waste, it's the zoom out, and then press on any area of the map you have already been to and your character will try to get there...this is nifty. Means that if you have to track back, you can easily zoom out, see where you want to go, and tap to go there. If however you come across a foe, the tracking will stop. It's just good to be able to back track effortlessly. (Somewhat of a grind for other roguelikes in which you went the wrong way for ages). It's good going so far.... They released the source code (I think the guys name was wataboo or something....). Anyway, lots of variants over there and I've been waiting for it to come on here..... Awesome game! I hope this one has no ads and is the same as the android one.... It was brutally hard yet addictive. I'm hoping this is much easier. Three years later it's finally on iOS. Don't forget to search often with the magnifying glass. There might be secret doors and rooms filled with goodies Edit: this is easier but still hard. The android version I played was still a beta. Download this game now. It's free and worth trying Luciano1084 Well-Known Member May 8, 2014 1,515 0 36 #6 Luciano1084, Jun 6, 2015 If this was premium I'd be all over it.. I see it has no IPAs though .. What's better, it doesn't use that tired oryx sprite set so many roguelikes use lately. zen_mode Well-Known Member Feb 8, 2015 366 0 16 Sydney #11 zen_mode, Jun 6, 2015 Last edited: Jun 6, 2015 Here I was sitting here depressed at the state of traditional roguelikes on iOS as compared to Android, and then I see this at the top of the TA charts. I know there was a partial port on GH, wonder if it's built off of that. Edit: ok most of what I was wondering is right there in the description. I should learn to read before posting. There's a PayPal link for donations there, and the web is accessible through the game's "about" page (click on the web link). Wataboo was always eager for feedback and actually implemented new ideas based on that feedback. I have been waiting for an iOS version ever since and am NOT disappointed. Get it!
