On the surface it is a standard old-school Snake game with a retro vibe but added to the basic gameplay is a layer of upgrades and power-ups to keep you playing longer in addition to a Prince of Persia-esque rewind mechanic that activates when you die. There are no-IAP's that I could find but there seems to be room for them in the store and I imagine that purchasing currency for upgrades may be made available as an option in the future. Overall, this is top-notch retro action. Note: My controls were reversed at the startup. Swipe controls are in times unresponsive (in a game that controlling is everything) and tap controls doesn't fit on iPad well. Improving that will be our #1 priority in the first update, and we'll try to get it out asap. We're planning to add some new tapping modes and improve the guides (which should give hints about how the controls work). We'll try to improve the swiping too but that is more tricky for a number of reasons. Currently the tapping works so that you tap where you want the snake to go, relative to the snake head. So if the snake is going up/down on the screen, tapping on left/right of the snake head will make the snake turn towards left/right. Similarly, if the snake is going left/right, tapping above/below the snake head will make the snake turn towards up/down. Douple-tapping makes a U-turn. Having said this, I fully understand that if the controls need to be explained it means that they have failed, so no excuses there. Hopefully improving the guides and adding new modes will help. Some of you also mentioned that the controls are actually in reverse, or totally random -- that's something we have never seen during our development and testing, so it would be good to know which device/OS version this happens in order to study it further. It could be down to the current controls being unintuitive, but we'd like to look into that. The game has all the ''meat'' to do well on the charts (again). A suggestion of a control method, is to make a version with left/right taps (half screen right, half screen left). Just like how it works with top down racers... In this case wherever is your snake on the screen it always turns the head right when you tap the right side of the screen and vice versa. It is a casual method for the touch screens top down racers that people have use to it. Welcome again and good luck on charts! One explanation that comes to my mind is if the capacitive touchscreen could be so sensitive that it would register touches/swipes even when the finger is a tiny distance away from the display. But if the problem appears even when fingers are nowhere near the display then that explanation can be ruled out. Let's see if we can improve the swipe to make it good enough, at least get rid of the accidental double turns. Swipe is by nature a slower control method than tapping, because a tap is just a single touch, while a swipe is a movement (basically a series of touches in some direction). So it might just not offer fast enough control when the snake speeds up and the screen starts to get busy. Another problem is the different combinations of resolutions and display sizes which makes it a bit tricky to determine a suitable length of finger movement to detect a swipe. Personally I find it a bit easier to use the swipe if I keep holding the finger on the display while swiping (ie. don't lift it up between swipes), but tapping is what I prefer myself. Other than that, we're now working on adding a couple more control scheme variations with D-Pad and two-button controls. And hopefully improve the guides too.
