Higher powers are involved in your predicament, and your role is to slowly gain awareness , and ultimately come to terms with the powers that are responsible for your fate. Ire is arguably the first tactical action RPG of its kind on mobile. PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #3 PeteOzzy, May 13, 2015 This really is the closest to Dark Souls I've ever played on iOS. I can't say too much about the quality of the game as I'm not very far in at all (just finished the tutorial) and also because I'm just pants at those games, but I'm hopeful so far. The creature design is fantastic, the bosses are quite hideous and dark in nature. The combat is deliberate and strategic but not sluggish. You have to time your attacks with the slower weapons and always be prepared to dodge. The levels are much more basic and linear though, but I guess that's to be expected. I'm going to play a lot more of this to give better impressions though. sivad Well-Known Member Mar 28, 2013 641 1 16 #4 sivad, May 13, 2015 I'll give it a go when it hits US, I'm a sucker for Hack n slash... I'm so buying this without buying it come midnight. Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #6 Amenbrother, May 13, 2015 Wow. If it lives up to the description of Old School ARPG that's difficult then I will be stoked. PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #8 PeteOzzy, May 13, 2015 I really suggest taking my opinion with a pinch of salt - like I said, I'm awful at the Souls series (though I enjoy them, I just can't succeed for long). I'd love to hear what a series fan thinks of this. All I can really say is that it's still amazing, regardless of my skill and that it feels and looks incredibly authentic. Those creature designs though...some amazingly beautiful yet grotesque things in the darkness! I hear people toss around the phrase "this game is like Dark Souls" a lot in these forums, but THIS IS IT. For real- the combat has that same gritty deliberate feel, the visuals are awesome and a little Lovecraftian, Weapon and skill upgrade systems, lock on target combat, MULTIPLAYER INVASIONS (yes seriously), co-op, gore, adjustable graphic settings, etc etc. I mean WTF how did this game just fall out of the sky? Indie devs so expect some bugs, no offense. Also, it won't run on my iPad mini so far, not sure why. Really surprising title and I'd keep my eye on this one if your looking for that iOS Dark Souls experience. Edit: the post above described the levels as "linear" and I just wanted to state they are NOT linear, you get dropped into an open map to explore and the maps get larger as you go. Just sayin. PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #12 PeteOzzy, May 13, 2015 This really is fantastic, there's so much depth in the menu between battles alone that I could spend half an hour just checking all the different screens. Absolutely loving this, They're level-based and mostly consist of a single medium-sized open area, compared to Dark Souls (which is the obvious base of comparison) they are linear. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, in fact it suits mobile more this way but it's just an observation that this isn't an open world like its inspiration and there will be people asking if it is so I wanted to make that distinction. PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #13 PeteOzzy, May 13, 2015 You will love this. Seems to be remarkably good with the IAP too though of course that's something that will be revealed with time. PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #20 PeteOzzy, May 13, 2015 Gem packages from $4.99 upwards, which are used to buy more gold (which is easily earned), Bone Shards for something I haven't found or weapon upgrade materials. I've already upgraded my weapon twice from just the first level so that doesn't seem that bad, but it's obviously dependant on long term play. There's no energy bar though, so most of this seems to be workaround-able by grinding. I know that's not necessarily going to stop everyone worrying but it's much better than it could be, I guess! Edit: Unfortunately there's a bug where once you open the IAP menu, you can't leave it without force closing lol. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
