This might even take the place of my daily pocket frogs fix! The graphics and audio are top notch, and love the soundtrack. Your koi live in a pond, filled with plants and other creatures. You guide your koi around with your finger, and try to eat the small bits of algea and other little fish. As you eat, your koi levels up and get bigger! Not only that, but there's also a stat system for the individual koi, and as you grow the, you can choose to put points into different stats. Speed helps them to catch faster prey, agility helps them to turn and increase the "gulp distance" (lol) and rarity increases chances of rare offspring. Pretty cool! On top of that, there is a kind of crafting system - eating certain amounts of certain types of prey allows you to create gems which you then bring to different symbols in the pond, and this will increase the pond size! There's actually a lot more to this than it seems at first. Love this, and hope to see more. This is the new pocket frogs for me. So satisfying to watch my koi grow. And apparently after some stage of evolution they turn into dragons??!! What?!! Can't wait to see that. Thanks devs, this game scratches a certain itch that I haven't been able to satisfy in a while! It's a nice and relaxing little koi fish collector. What I really like is the upgrade system, you just tap/eat on the lower life forms in order to level up and unlock more eggs and fish and of course expand the pond. I like the mating mechanics as well... It feels like real life where you have to chase your mate a little to get some loving! You have to work a little for almost everything in this game, from chasing around your mate to eating specific fish, it's all simple yet satisfying. Part of the challenge that I enjoy is figuring out how some fish can be caught. That stupid blowfish had me stumped for a while. Also haven't had to worry about any IAP wall yet, but we shall see. I love how you have to follow your mate and anticipate every twist and turn for the pairing to happen. Really turns it into a dance. What's interesting is that the more rare the koi is, the harder it is to follow, either they are faster or more agile, so you really need to watch their movements to keep them close. And I agree, the different prey mechanics are neat. To catch the blowfish, I found its easiest to come up directly behind them so they can't see you, it helps to start from further away. The other one I had trouble with was the flying-fish one with the large wings that zooms when you get close. I'll let you figure that one out. I have to say my favorite prey so far are the little ones that try to hide in the plants - it's so funny how they freak out when they see you coming and start looking for the closest plant to hide in! I always feel a little bad eating them hahaha... You can earn pearls (premium currency) by completing certain breeds, and you also get pearls when you get a koi to dragon form - the amount you get depends on the rarity of the koi ascending. All the little touches and details, and the crisp cute but not too cute visuals are what really makes this one stand out. Very nice. Really liking this game. It's a nice and relaxing little koi fish collector. What I really like is the upgrade system, you just tap/eat on the lower life forms in order to level up and unlock more eggs and fish and of course expand the pond.
