Plenty of mention of loot so we shall see. But didn't see a mention of much class based or level up tree system at all. Hoping there's good depth here. Staying tuned for the imps when they come in. trystero Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2009 717 3 18 #3 trystero, Apr 8, 2015 Is this a re-release of the original Dungeon Crawlers for iOS? Or maps/enemies are completely new? Wondering if this is just an upgrade to the graphics with Metal... JohnnyCoghlan Well-Known Member Jul 18, 2011 156 0 16 SF, USA and Manchester, UK #7 JohnnyCoghlan, Apr 8, 2015 Dungeon Crawlers Metal has all of the original Dungeon Crawlers game plus a bunch of new content as the description says - arena mode, challenge level maps, and even better visuals, lighting and effects! Dungeon Crawlers Metal is optimized for more recent (ie iOS 8 Metal-supporting) devices, with stability a key focus. That's not all though - an update to the original Dungeon Crawlers is currently "In Review" with Apple and it will be released as soon as it's approved! This means fans of the original game can update that existing app, or choose to get the new one. Indie developer Drowning Monkeys (www.facebook.com/drowningmonkeysgames) has worked extra hard to ensure all bases are covered for fans old and new. Thanks for the support everyone, it's really appreciated! anabolicMike Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2013 302 0 0 #8 anabolicMike, Apr 8, 2015 I'm interested but scared. Everytime I get excited for a game like this, it always turns out to have great graphics, lots of loot and random game play. Sounds awesome Eh? Except that great graphics are fine but it's always everything just repeated. Lots of loot means lots of crappy loot that no one would ever keep and you end up keeping the same equipment forever, random game play is because it's the same walls, same monsters, everything is the same, I don't know why they say random if it's actually exactly the same just minor layout changes.... They always looks so good but are always so damned shallow lol. Sorry shouldn't bitch I suppose. Just hopefully this sucker has some meat to its bones! I know not everyone can release a Siralim or a HoMM3 hahha. I'll probably buy this, after a few imps Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #9 Exact-Psience, Apr 8, 2015 I strongly agree on the loot bit. A lot of devs think loot means random stuff to pick up and sell which is a huge mistake. chud575 Active Member Feb 13, 2010 34 0 0 #10 chud575, Apr 8, 2015 From the Developer... Hi guys, I'm Josh from Drowning Monkeys, looking forward to answering all your questions. I'm on my phone right now and just saw this post so I will try to answer all your Q's, And I'll be back later tonight. First off, to answer the most basic question about what this release is- it is the same game with a ton of gameplay improvements, stability fixes, 8 new challenge maps, and arena mode. The UI has been completely overhauled. The camera has gone from a free floating camera to a 4-angle rotation fixed camera with a near orthographic view. After a lot of tinkering I rea feel like this view gives the best view of the action and best for usability. This game will NOT crash, and if for some reason it does, the auto-save will put you right back where you left off. That being said in my many weeks of testing I did see two crashes, so it's not 100% but close. Because it was simply a matter of re-compiling, we decided not to leave original buyers out in the cold, and we're bringing all of these updates to the original version, including the content. So if you own the original and don't care for graphical upgrades, give this reboot a shot! About the loot and depth of play, well, we worked hard to give the loot fun names and give nods to other movies and books, etc. but in general, I like to think of this game as "Tactics Lite". If you've ever played the board game Hero Quest, you'll be right at home here. The game is linear, the battles are preset but carefully crafted so that each encounter takes thought, or introduces new elements to the game (like traps) for the user to get used to. And that's why we are introducing challenge maps. A great way to get more out of this game and use your loot! I plan on releasing about 20-30 total maps. Have any more questions? Sound off! Looking forward to your support. geoelectric Well-Known Member Apr 22, 2010 464 22 18 San Jose, CA #11 geoelectric, Apr 8, 2015 Am I the only person who wanted this to be like Robot Unicorn Attack: Heavy Metal edition? Unofficially, it does work on the 4S, but its definitely slow. If you're planning on upgrading (ever), then you could future proof it by buying the new one, but no guarantees on performance I have a hard time telling you that aside from graphics, there is any difference, because there isn't. Had we left the old version alone, i would say 100% definitively to upgrade, but that isn't the case. So if you don't care about the graphics, play the old version! It plays much better and smoother now! PBSNellie Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 1,381 168 63 Southern CA #17 PBSNellie, Apr 9, 2015 Thank you.
