Plus the gameplay is fantastic . mzinn Well-Known Member Jan 5, 2014 770 0 16 #13 mzinn, Feb 27, 2015 Very fun game. Nice easy pace. Lots to think about as you place the balls & slide blocks. It helps to think a few moves ahead. So far really enjoying it. Sven - Monkube Well-Known Member Nov 9, 2014 100 0 0 #14 Sven - Monkube, Feb 27, 2015 Thanks man. Our goal was to make a game that was the exact oposite of all those timer based, quick twitch, same old puzzle mechanic, IAP stuffed games out there. Mainly because, well.. being puzzle fans ourselves, we really thought this type of game was not on offer. So we spent 3 years in making it. The gameplay depth is the part we're most proud of. I'm not gonna spoil your fun by telling you why (and JCman7, who participated in the final test we ran through the TA forum has promised not to either), but if you dig these kind of games, BlastBall MAX will be on your Most Played list for quite a while.. Have fun. And feel free to come back and share your thoughts. We could always use the extra exposure & support.. Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #15 Misguided, Feb 27, 2015 The App Store description should describe the gameplay mechanic. Sven - Monkube Well-Known Member Nov 9, 2014 100 0 0 #16 Sven - Monkube, Feb 27, 2015 Hm... Good idea. We made a video that does just that. So that link should be added there as well. I'll see if we can write something up that describes the mechanic is short and snappy form. Question: in your oppinion, what's the unique thing about our mechanic? (We've been working on this for 3 years, so we can't really remember what first popped out most when we first designed it) Breinstein Well-Known Member Sep 27, 2012 527 5 18 The Netherlands #17 Breinstein, Feb 27, 2015 Hmm bought the game and played the tutorial. It all looked very familiar and I thought I have played this before .. Took a look in my AppStore backlog and discovered that I already have the game , also released by monkube but with freemium elements ( daily coins etc) it was called blastball without the MAX . Did you rerelease this game as premium? H4nd0fg0d Well-Known Member Mar 30, 2010 1,905 0 36 #18 H4nd0fg0d, Feb 27, 2015 Aha, I thought I'd seen this before. Sven - Monkube Well-Known Member Nov 9, 2014 100 0 0 #19 Sven - Monkube, Feb 27, 2015 That would mean you live in either Belgium or the Netherlands We tried a lot of stuff, one of them being the F2P version we released last year in Belgium and Netherlands. I was never a fan of the F2P business model (Monkube's co-owners / investors where ), but we did try to create a game which is both great, and also has a healthy revenue model. What I learned is this: With today's cost for acquiring new players, and everyone doing F2P, games like BlastBall MAX really have to destroy the gameplay, and offer the fix through In App Currency etc... That way, you'll make money. But I just couldn't do it, and have 96% of all people who play it, not really experiencing the game like it should be, with unlimited plays and all power-ups at their disposal. Quick twitch stuff like Crossy Road can be great as F2P, but the games Monkube's good at making... it just doesn't work. So I pushed back on investor pressure, explaining that Monkube should be a company known for making great premium games. Yes, it'll take a while to build up a Brand name people associate with great games, and yes, it's gonna take longer to grow. But at least you're building on value. As business models come and go, gameplay genre's boom and then crash while others take over... but great gameplay is timeless and and steady as a rock in the sea of ups and downs. We're spent 3 years on BlastBall MAX, throwing out everything we didn't think was essential. What's left is what you get in BlastBall MAX. We know the game through and through, but I'm not gonna elaborate on the gameplay, as discovering its depth and possibilities, is just what it's all about. Takes a lot of guts to make these decisions when others were in your face wanting something faster for profit. I'll keep an eye out for all games you make in the future.
