PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #4 PeteOzzy, Feb 26, 2015 I've had a quick play and it's definitely fun though I'm not sure it has enough of a hook to keep me coming back in the days to come. It's an auto-accelerating avoidance twitcher with decent handling that has you weaving between asteroids picking up collectibles to boost your score. There are a few unlockable ships and pilots but they seem mainly cosmetic and there aren't a huge number of them. It is enjoyable, I just feel like I've played it before. The presentation is spot on though, but I wish it had a bit more meat to it. However, the screenshots show a lot of things I haven't come across yet so it could easily change. Definitely take these impressions with a pinch of salt as they're hurried and it's nearly 5am! bigrand1 Well-Known Member Apr 23, 2010 4,968 7 38 Geriatric Party Animal California, USA #5 bigrand1, Feb 26, 2015 For it being 5am you do pretty well, man! I always appreciate honest opinions good or bad. Think I'm gonna pass on this one. Thanks! PeteOzzy Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2013 4,596 3 0 Norwich, England #6 PeteOzzy, Feb 26, 2015 Well I played a bit more, hit 28 points and enjoyed it. The unlock scheme hit me as a bit odd though and kind of dampened my experience. The extra ships have the fancy add-ons like the lasers you can see in the screenshots, but you can only unlock them by purchasing the unlock and getting a highscore. I hit enough to get the first but obviously haven't paid just yet. I'm fine with that, of course, but it means I haven't experienced the more enjoyable (I assume) side of the gameplay - the destructive elements. With them locked behind the "paywall" along with leaderboards and cloud saving, you're left having to judge whether you want more of the game based on a poor imitation of what it actually is. I get the thinking involved but I'm not encouraged to unlock the full game as the "demo" wasn't particularly inspiring. It's a little double-edged. I don't know, maybe I'm the only one or I'm just sleepy but it didn't really gel. Flop Rocket, on the other hand, is outstanding on first impressions. bscotchshenani Well-Known Member Feb 26, 2013 139 26 18 #7 bscotchshenani, Feb 26, 2015 @PeteOzzy TOTALLY FAIR POINTS, all around. We tried to figure out where to place the "Maybe you want to buy this!" sell for a good long time and decided to go with a near-upfront paywall. And it sounds like it was probably a BAD IDEA. But hey, as we said, we don't have any clue what we're doing. Most of this is iteration and "feel" based and occasionally we kind of get it wrong. I think we got bit wound up about the BscotchID cross-game perks available (in that Roid Rampage feeds new content into Flop Rocket, Towelfight, and Quadropus) and neglected to view the game for the value it brings to the table (AND WHEN!). We'll likely revise that down the line. Well, regardless, this title reminds me of me after eating too many Jalepenos at the local Mexican restaurant! #
