(If you ignore the "Legendary" Dragon type which is outside the damage wheels altogether. Hopefully that just means it inflicts and takes base damage in all cases.) In terms of element progression, it's not breaking the mold in any way - is there some unwritten rule that Fire ALWAYS comes first, with fast growth but the smallest coin storage space in habitats? It's not a REQUIRED "pay to progress," but you'll hit progress walls much faster if you don't. You almost HAVE to have VIP status to do well, because that doubles your rewards from the single player campaign along with various other perks. VIP is a limited-duration feature, but it can be purchased with premium currency instead of requiring real money. (49 Diamonds gets you a week of VIP status - you can get 35 Diamonds early on simply by buying, hatching and selling fifty Fire dragons to max out the Shopaholic Achievement.) Friends are needed for gifting and to pass those annoying "progress gates" that are so popular (those open optional sub-paths and aren't required). Since it wants you to use Facebook and there are iOS, Android AND Windows Phone versions (none of which talk to each other), finding those few token friends can be difficult. And let's not talk about the "Crimson Fury" $4.99 purchase. It lets you start the battle with Dragon Fury already enabled (which typically requires you to get eight perfect hits in battle to charge up). Dragon Fury lets you tap on enemies for several seconds, doing several thousand points of typeless damage, and it doesn't even use a combat turn. So you can KO the dragon you have a type mismatch against before the fight even starts, and have a 3-on-2 advantage. This works in the VS Arena, too. <eyeroll> All in all, it's a fun "gotta catch 'em all" breeding distraction, with the PvP and Event Leaderboards something you can just ignore unless you plan to fight with your wallet. It's truly very similar to Dragonvale - haven't played that in quite a while, so it might have gotten updates since -, but there are quite some differences: - some sort of a story - battles in a simple rpg fashion way (you can level up dragons, they gain power, you can teach them skills depending in their elements, fights are based on tap-timing) - exploring (you can't use those dragons in fights for that time, but you'll get some loot in return) - it doesn't add much though And yes, there is farming, small quests, events and competitons, pvp, in-game achievements with rewards, second currency which you gain quite a lot, FB (you don't have to)... There might be others, but I did not yet encounter them. The farming part I don't really like as they are not too well balanced (you soon need lots of food to level up and your farms just don't provide enough - luckily quests reward you more). Names are also not original nor fun (just like the game's title). However the battles are quite fun. It's like a mix of Dragonvale, FrontierVille (or what is its name) and a timing-tapper rpg which's title escapes me at the moment - just remembered, Deep Deep Dungeon. If a game with timers? Estrica Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2012 184 0 16 #14 Estrica, Jan 16, 2015 Not really, I think it is perfectly fine without paying. Though I did ended up getting the Crimson Fury, which makes things a little easier (and considering how much fun I'm having with the game now, I did not regret it). I don't know how long the game goes, at the moment I'm at the end of the second battle island and there is a lot to go. I don't think just by paying you can advance that fast with the game though, still needs some skill with the battles. There are timers, but I'm fine with it. Battles recharge every 15 minutes, that's not bad. Makes it worthy to check back in a few hours. I have to agree with an earlier opinion, that the game is kinda balanced with being a vip. However getting a vip status is not that hard as you are rewarded with the currency you can get it for in a very generous way. What I'm not too much impressed about is the lack of variety if the mashes (or models). Many characters look similar with just a different texture on the same model. Would be nice to improve there (preferably by making all dragons be different). Anyway, if you are generally not entirely against timers, I think it definitely worths a check. Even if you do, for quite some time you will always find something to do and advance with. I can recommend to at least try. Did not mention this one before, but absolutely love the music (reminds me of the music of HoMM) and sounds! Would be nice to have an overview of all the dragons with their skill levels. It can be checked, but only one-by-one. Maybe a search by skill-level. Also I don't think the delete option is needed that often on buildings. I would hide it more, as it is easy to missclick. There is the prompt luckily, but still. All dragons are the same "power level". A common one you get for free, at level 20, is just as strong as an Epic at level 20, and has an insignificant difference from a level 20 Legendary. It is pretty easy to breed rares, and not that difficult to breed epics either. The difference between the rarity levels is usually the number of elements it has. Rares and Epics usually have 3 elements which make them very versatile. Legendaries have their own element, which is neutral and has no advantages/disadvantages. However, that makes them worse unfortunately as they dont have the multiple skills that 3 element dragons would have. I got an 80% off deal for a Legendary package yesterday, so I actually got that. But now I regret it because I just now bred an Epic that I was going for to complete my team. I may not even use the Legendary, since its Legendary element skill isn't too great compared to other elements. I believe it marks the enemy dragon and makes it take extra damage whenever something attacks it. Compared to things like the fire element which does heavy damage to all enemies, and deals another round of damage if the target dies (depending on which path you took. the other burns the target for 2 turns), it just isnt comparable. Ill probably be switching between my main 3 and the legendary as sometimes I'll be using them to breed/train. The problem with Legendaries are they have their own Legendary element, which has no advantage or disadvantage to any other elements. So it will never do extra damage (like water would do to fire), while the Epics and below that have 3 elements are more versatile and can do different damage types, and use different elemental skills. Legendaries have just a single element + skill that isnt even that good. They look good though haha EDIT: Legendaries can also be bred as well. It just takes the right combo + luck to get one. It is pretty difficult though, but that's how it should be. Its not like they even give an advantage anyways.
