It looked like it was essentially a re-skin of SBT and generally speaking that's true. However, after spending a bit of time with it I can safely say that it evolves the formula in meaningful ways and that I'm enjoying the changes they've made. I don't want to spoil anything but give it a shot. Its quite nifty and a lot more fun to play than the original. Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #4 Amenbrother, Dec 23, 2014 Hmmmm sounds positive. CrazedJava Well-Known Member Jan 29, 2015 339 0 0 #5 CrazedJava, Feb 5, 2015 So my experience with DeNA is not positive. Is this going to be punishing without spending a ton of time and money on it? I generally like the live events, but the last games I played by them were the type that if you didn't play every chance you were able then you had no chance of getting decent awards and the single-player campaigns were kinda pointless. It looks interesting but the publisher has really put me off their products. I'm even willing to drop some cash on them but if it's the kind of game where they expect you to drop $60 or more per event to stay competitive (Like G.I.Joe did) then I'm out. justcallmedewey Active Member Sep 4, 2012 31 0 6 #6 justcallmedewey, Feb 5, 2015 I'm willing to give it a shot for the sake of Transformers, but DeNA is notorious for garbage. I am setting my expectations very low for this one but I'll allow myself to be surprised. andysmash Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 2,067 1 0 #7 andysmash, Feb 5, 2015 Game has crashed 8 times so far. Also, it appears that it might be an auto-play game? I can't get through a battle, but it doesn't appear you're selecting attacks and targets. Anyone know for sure? I don't want to bother with auto-play "games." touchy85 Well-Known Member Jan 21, 2015 1,616 1 38 #8 touchy85, Feb 5, 2015 Game Impressions Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Sexy Pirate Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2014 889 0 0 Call centre / Parent Newcastle England #9 Sexy Pirate, Feb 5, 2015 Oooooo I'm all over this like flys on # NOEN Well-Known Member Jul 31, 2012 3,245 0 0 U.S. #10 NOEN, Feb 5, 2015 Hmm. The battle concept is pretty cool. I'm in the second recruit level and doing battles to earn the materials for Starscream. I can see how completing a collection of bots could become addictive, and the battles are a good mix of random and strategic. It isn't auto-play, for sure. chief78 Well-Known Member Jul 24, 2012 2,317 7 38 #13 chief78, Feb 6, 2015 There's a nice progression system here. I've even had a few live battles that went seamlessly. I'm digging this. The choice to not let the player choose who to hit is actually clever. A Bot with 1 health is as viable as a Bot with 30 health of on offense. And there is a perk to target an enemy, so it balances out sorta. I'm just hoping there's not a huge barrier a couple of levels in. But, so far so good. chief78 Well-Known Member Jul 24, 2012 2,317 7 38 #14 chief78, Feb 6, 2015 Now that I've played a bit, I like the fact that you can use both the "head bot" coins (insert right name here) and the gold coins to upgrade (if you're short of the first currency). I've not seen this in enough F2P games, and so I have to say, good job there. Hephaestus Well-Known Member Apr 16, 2014 151 0 0 #15 Hephaestus, Feb 6, 2015 The fact that Astrotrain defies standard game mechanics to have the correct number of forms is enough to get me to give it a try. chief78 Well-Known Member Jul 24, 2012 2,317 7 38 #16 chief78, Feb 6, 2015 Lol Most of TFormers history and scale has defied logic Alright, looking for TA'ers to start a crew. Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #18 Amenbrother, Feb 6, 2015 Eh this was kind of boring for me. Its not even a game more like a simulator! andysmash Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 2,067 1 0 #19 andysmash, Feb 6, 2015 Get a little deeper. More powers and characters means more depth. chief78 Well-Known Member Jul 24, 2012 2,317 7 38 #20 chief78, Feb 6, 2015 Do u mean the Power token? I can't figure that out eirher and I haven't gotten one so not sure what it'll do. It looks the same color as the blue energon cubes (why didn't they make the energon purple? ), so I think it might be used to recharge and continue playing. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
