Any chance to get a little rebalance on the 99 dungeon in Devil Shard? It's probably me who sucks, but i can't seem to beat it. But, hey, new Game Stew game! Yeee! retr0spective Well-Known Member May 24, 2011 915 17 18 Riverside, CA #7 retr0spective, Nov 29, 2014 No, it is not just you. I am convinced that it is simply not possible. marshal Member Sep 15, 2010 10 0 0 #8 marshal, Nov 29, 2014 Last edited: Nov 30, 2014 Ok, I have taken the plunge and I'm really enjoying it so far! If you liked the previous Game Stew games, you will love this one. As always the gameplay is very streamlined, but the retro graphics, the sound and the script make it ooze atmosphere. In this case you play a board game rolling a dice to advance and resolve any fight or action you face. The main board is some kind of hub, and each subquest takes place in different boards (with new settings and enemies) you can access anytime you want. You can build and upgrade your camp and market to have access to new objects that help you in your quest, besides the ones you will find during the game. Once you run out of lifes you face permadeath and lose all your progress and upgrades, although I fon't know if later on you can get some object to avoid it as in previous iterations. The game has 2 currencies (gil and ore) but you can get them during the course of the game without problems. The IAPs I have found are different characters to play with, besides the 2 initial ones and the pet to increade the money you get after every combat. I don't know if you can access them later using ingame money as in previous games but I doubt so, which is a pity because each of the 7 characters cost 0'89 (you can get them all for 4,50 ) and the sheep for 1,79. They are not necessary to complete the game and only affect the stats of your character, but mean that if you are a completitionist you will have to splash some money. Looks like it's slightly deeper than their previous games, but it strikes me how every app they release keeps its Game Stew roots although being completely different genres. Two thumbs up. I'm sure this won't disappoint! I hope this distracts me from my massive hangover. Just played a round. That was actually a lot of fun. They did a great job on it. I've never been s real table top player so I'm not so used to the rules or how everything works but I'm sure with practice I'll make it further and further. There's no real progression once ya die, you pretty much loose everything. But that's how table top games play. Definately a lot of fun! retr0spective Well-Known Member May 24, 2011 915 17 18 Riverside, CA #10 retr0spective, Nov 29, 2014 I agree with much of what was shared here and also love the new game. A salient point to add concerns the nature of the gameplay. Each of the Game Stew games retains their idiosyncratic graphical style and apocalyptic vision while introducing a new gameplay mechanic. In the Tower of Fortune games this was a slot machine mechanic within an ascending or descending Tower. In Gargoyle Ruins this was a Game & Watch mechanic within a dungeon. War of Eclipse features flying ships battling Evangelion-esque angels using a guage mechanic. In Devil Shard you battle waves of enemies using a match-3 mechanic. Ancient Legacy introduces their most non-linear progression yet through the tabletop boardgame style and dice gameplay mechanic. Your hero advances along the perimeter of the board within an invisible or transparent series of squares. Each of the elements of the ornate border represents a unique area of its own with several possibilities that can occur depending on the random roll of the dice. You first role to determine how far your character moves. From the designated square you then role to determine the event that will transpire and then role again to determine the outcome of the event or battle. Events are very similar to those found in Tower of Fortune 2 but seem to me to include more narrative-centric occurrences related to the location. (Familiar iconic foes such as the Scum Family also make an appearance.) From the starting board you have access, depending on where you land, to different game boards each with their own unique missions and narratives. Each square of each different location seems to provide unique opportunities and secrets. Combined with the randomization of the dice mechanic this makes for a tremendous amount replay value. Ever since the original release of the very well-received Tower of Fortune, I have been a big fan of Game Stew and continually surprised and delighted by their creative series of games. Much thanks to the developers for continuing to make such unique and enjoyable games! Pickman Well-Known Member Mar 30, 2013 94 2 8 #11 Pickman, Nov 29, 2014 Gamestew? Instabuy!!! I loved it in Devil's Shard but when I went back and got TOF I then realized they used ll the same tracks for each game. The only game stew game I've played is devil shard, and after reading some of this thread I decided to look into you guy's other titles. I clicked other games here in TA and saw several, however, when I click "other games by this developer" inside the App Store I only see Devil Shard, Ancient a Legacy, and tower of fortune 2. The same when I search "game stew". I assumed that you guys had pulled all of your older releases but they are all still there, but the only way I can get to tower of fortune, gargoyle ruins, or war of eclipse is from direct links. momopara Well-Known Member Sep 21, 2013 105 0 16 #19 momopara, Nov 30, 2014 Did I mention that? Heroine such as wizard, ranger, scholar and bard has advantage in some instant kill events.
