Download and subscribe to enjoy an ever-growing collection of wonderful games. Dwelp is an elegant little puzzler with a brand new game mechanic. To complete a puzzle, just link all of the same-colored dots by placing them one near another. There's a catch, though... Once you have connected two dots, the others of the same color become locked in their place. It's so simple to understand, yet it opens up a whole world of possibilities! Why "only" 120 puzzles, then? Because they were carefully selected from hundreds of others, in order to offer you only the best of the best. Each puzzle has more than one solution (and some have thousands). Will you find the one that requires the least number of moves? That’s the real challenge! Should you complete it, you will be treated to a select number of puzzles that are bordering on impossibility. But the satisfaction of solving one of those can't be described in words… Designed specifically for the iOS devices and carefully crafted to the tiniest detail, Dwelp brings you puzzle solving at its finest. === FEATURES === • 120 hand-crafted puzzles with a smooth difficulty curve • An ultra-hard puzzle pack, if you are up to a tough challenge and have some good hours to spare • Bonus puzzle pack with a different type of gameplay • Handy features like the puzzle previewer, the progress saver and the powerful undoer, to enhance your gaming experience • Easy one-handed portrait-mode control • Working equally fine in landscape mode without any rotation Enjoy! One fo the best puzzle games I've seen in a while. Beautiful concept. The puzzles are a lot harder than might seem at first sight. Very elegant implementation, with consistent animations all throughout. I like the small details like how the multiple undo and restart functions are integrated into a single control. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #9 y2kmp3, Nov 27, 2014 Last edited: Nov 27, 2014 Very nice and surprisingly good puzzle game. Hmm... Encountered one level so far that seems not doable in the stated optimal steps.... TheGreatEscaper Well-Known Member Oct 10, 2014 1,025 22 38 #10 TheGreatEscaper, Nov 27, 2014 Heh, level 19 right? Same here, I think it's impossible to do in 7 moves. Apart from that, I've got no major complaints so far apart from the inconsistent difficulty. BAM five levels done in a minute. Then suddenly out of nowhere a stumper that'll take you ten minutes. Then another five levels done in a minute. Then again, I guess with puzzles of this type that rely on a certain insight (like Zengrams), the difficulty depends on the person. I assume it's No. 19, as TheGreatEscaper has mentioned, right? No idea how that slipped through. Stay tuned for an update that will have it fixed. @TheGreatEscaper: You're right! My findings are exactly the same. The difficulty of such games depends on the player. During my tests I found out that someone can easily complete a puzzle that stumps someone else, which in turn finds other puzzles very easy. I have heard reactions like "This is too hard!" and "This is too easy!" about the same puzzle from two persons that have the same solving skills on average. At least you can skip those that are too difficult and come back to them later =) saosijs Well-Known Member Mar 24, 2012 1,483 2 38 Brazil #13 saosijs, Nov 27, 2014 Saw the recommendations here and just finished my first 10 levels. I agree with all of Nicola's points, Dwelp is one of the nicest puzzle games I've played in all respects. Hope we get additional puzzles in future updates.. and level 19 has been driving me nuts. Glad to see it may be an error and not something wrong with me. Great job dev! Roundabyte Well-Known Member May 21, 2011 91 0 0 #16 Roundabyte, Nov 27, 2014 Hi guys, New puzzles are definitely on the pipeline. As mentioned in the description, I have created hundreds of puzzles and picked out the best 100 + 6 of them for this release. However, there are still some really good ones among those that didn't make it, and this game mechanic really lends itself to a whole variety of designs. @dukat111 and everyone else: Sorry for all the frustration No. 19 has brought you! Indeed, it was a typo in the data file due to the fact that I have reordered some of the earlier puzzles right before release. Question: Would you appreciate a "puzzle designer" feature? I can't promise it will happen, but depending on the feedback, I might be nudged into that direction. I have some ideas about a possible turn-based Game Center integration where friends would send their own puzzles to eachother. You would also have a way of submitting your best creations, so they might end up in a special pack in a future update (with credits, of course =). What do you think? dukat111 Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2010 514 94 28 #17 dukat111, Nov 27, 2014 Being able to share puzzles with friends, or a general repository to download user submitted puzzles would be great; however I'd recommend some sort of review before making them public so the repository isn't flooded with lousy ones. Part of what makes your game so nice is the quality and refinement. Great job Roundbyte, thanks for making a great puzzler and for not including freemium nonsense. dukat111 Well-Known Member Mar 23, 2010 514 94 28 #18 dukat111, Nov 27, 2014 Can you please look into the battery usage? I'm seeing very high battery drain. Played it for 20 minutes today, went from 100% to 87% battery on an iPhone 6. Battery usage screen shows since last full charge Dwelp accounts for 33% of my usage and I didn't use the phone at all other than the 20 minutes of play. Is it possible it's running in the background using processor cycles when it's minimized? That would explain the consumption. Let me know if I can help with troubleshooting. Thanks. y2kmp3 Well-Known Member Jun 25, 2010 1,784 3 38 #19 y2kmp3, Nov 27, 2014 Thanks for the confirmation, Roundabyte. You are right. I was having a problem with No. 19. Indeed, the design of that level is simple enough that it is possible to proof mathematically it is impossible to finish in 7 moves. Am I correct that this is the ONLY level you are aware of for which the optimal target is incorrect? Have you discovered other levels? If so, which ones? I really like the flexible solution spaces in the early levels. At least for the ones I complete, many levels can be solved in many ways. Have you investigated algorithmically how many levels can be solved with multiple solutions? I presume that, as the levels get more complicated (you have to form bigger groups), the solution spaces narrow so that many of them could only be solved in one way. Am I correct? Roundabyte Well-Known Member May 21, 2011 91 0 0 #20 Roundabyte, Nov 27, 2014 You are right, only curated puzzles should end up being available publicly. My plan is to release one or more updates adding new puzzle packs which would include only those that are worth playing. I haven't experienced any battery issues so far. On my iPhone 6, the battery consumption is decent for a 60fps game. I don't think it uses any CPU cycles in the background, but I will definitely look into this and do some more specific tests. In the meantime, please try to quit the application when not using it, instead of pushing it into the background, and maybe you can figure out if that makes any difference. Dwelp will store the progress of the current puzzle and will restore it when reopened. In fact, it will store progress on all the puzzles that you have started but haven't completed. You are right, No. 19 is the only puzzle that I'm aware of having this issue. I have run some more tests in the meantime and haven't found any other, so you can safely assume that all the other puzzles can be completed with the stated amount of moves. Should you have any doubts about other numbers, feel free to let me know and I'll gladly try to solve it again and confirm. Indeed, I have created an algorithm that solves the puzzles and shows the number of solutions + lowest / highest move count. There are only a handful of puzzles that have a single solution. Most of them have more solutions, and some of them really have a lot (sometimes thousands, if you take into account the different steps you can take to get to the same final shape). One notable example is No. 77, which can be solved in anywhere from 5 to 15 moves. In fact, finding the solution with 15 moves is much harder than finding the one with 5 moves. That's why there is an achievement for that. =) As for the number of solutions decreasing as you progress, that's not entirely true. In general, the more dots on a puzzle, the higher the number of solutions. Also, there are puzzles towards the end that look really simple (maybe just a few dots on a 5x5), but are really difficult to solve. Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps!
