Jumping on this one as soon as I clear off enough space. I own the physical BattleLord game (1st edition) and love it, but don't get to play it nearly enough. I'm really looking forward to playing against the AI in particular. toptrops Well-Known Member Apr 23, 2014 269 0 0 #5 toptrops, Nov 25, 2014 Game Impressions Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Bloodangel Well-Known Member Jan 19, 2011 1,824 46 48 Retail England #6 Bloodangel, Nov 25, 2014 Looks a nice game mgdpublic Member Nov 20, 2010 24 5 3 #7 mgdpublic, Nov 25, 2014 Can anyone comment on AI? The fact that it comes with a huge campaign mode is just a bonus! Also, I'm told that there are lots of well made tutorials to help you learn the game so those of you haven't played BattleLore 2.0 (shame on you) can get up to speed quickly. Although the theme is different the game mechanics seem similar with the card-based turn system. http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=5114 ShaggyPKA Active Member May 16, 2013 42 0 6 #10 ShaggyPKA, Nov 26, 2014 How is the AI for skirmish in this? I've never played the board game, so I had no clue how to play this going in. I played through the tutorial and the first mission on the campaign. I lost the first mission I played on my own, and realized it was because I forgot what to do during one of the phases and I wasn't playing strategically. Once I was like "Oh yeah, that's what I needed to do" it was too late, so I finished out the mission just to get the hang of it better, and lost. The second time I played through the first mission, I was a winner. Now the (phases) all make sense and feel second nature. My impressions: This is freaking brilliant! The production values are top notch. The tutorial is very well done. The gameplay seems tough, but is strategic the way a turn-based strategy game should be. No bugs, interface is simple, clean and very well-done. I tried Blood Bowl and hated it. Way too complicated (too much for me), buggy, and clunky. This is clean, well-thought out... can't praise this enough. The way the game plays is you get phases (Works a lot like the phases in Magic the Gathering). In the first phase you get a new lore card, and a lore point (Lore are points received that allows you to use a special power.) The second phase you are shown cards with lanes that you choose. The battlefield is divided into 3 lanes (left / center / right). So if you choose a 1 / 1/ 1 card, for example, you can play one squad in the left-side of the field, one in the center, and one on the right-side of the field. 3rd phase you choose which squads your going to use (you just have to touch them) from the choices made above (This is the phase I forgot in regards to the mission issues I had stated above, and subsequently, all the rest of the phases failed). 4th phase you can move the chosen squads. 5th phase - combat. The touch controls work great. The strategy is deep without being overly complicated. It's just fantastic, and I would shell out more for more campaigns. Makes me want to investigate Elder Signs (I've never played it) from this developer. cofunguy Well-Known Member Sep 24, 2012 825 0 0 #14 cofunguy, Nov 26, 2014 Jim, couldn't said it better. Jim Shorts Well-Known Member Nov 3, 2014 239 1 18 Virginia #17 Jim Shorts, Nov 26, 2014 Hi Ayjona, The rules are very straight forward. The tutorial is really very good. The gameplay is deep enough without being overwhelming at all. Not like Blood Bowl where you have to read a massive rulebook online and still not know what the hell is going on, due to an insurmountable amount of rules and buggy play. In fact, the tutorial mission lasts about 10 minutes and after another 10 minutes on my own, I got it. It's not that hard, it's the way you execute your strategy with what you are given that makes it so good. You'll have it all figured out in less than a half hour. If your wondering whether it is worth $10 bucks... yes it is. Jim Shorts Well-Known Member Nov 3, 2014 239 1 18 Virginia #18 Jim Shorts, Nov 26, 2014 It seems random for me. Sure my infantry did no damage in this attack, but I guess I should feel good I managed to generate 2 lore from that encounter. I can only assume this "lore" comes by way of the legendary stories of that infantry's patheticness. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
