I have not played Random Heroes so I have a couple of questions. Do you control your character or does it auto-run? Do you have control over the weapons or is it auto-fire. Auto-run games are a deal breaker for me and I can't play them because it's so annoying same with auto-fire.
You can see how it plays in the video above. None of the Random Heroes games autorun, they're true platformers.
The Random Heroes games are my favorite from Ravenous Games, I can't wait to buy this one tonight and see what fun new stuff they've put in this gem.
Seeing a Ravenous game release is the same feeling I had as a child walking into a candy store. Cant wait till 10 o'clock! My only instabuy of the day (so far). Thanks Ravenous and Killer for the post!
The one game I seriously want tonight...this one, is just about the only one on the "out tonight" list that hasn't already been released in US.....flip the switch already
Playing Vainglory and got the Monument Valley update and will also be picking this up. Actually haven't tried the Random Heroes games but I did play Devious Dungeon and liked that.
Yep, I'll be picking this up as well. I really liked RH 1&2 so his should be good. Thanks for posting, killercow!
Yeah I'd hate to say it, but the same graphics and mechanics in a new game is really more of the same. Not bad, but I'd like to see an evolution in their franchises. I got bored watching Sanuku's play through. I went back and played a bit of RH2, and I can't find one thing different with this one. Maybe there's a better progression system but I'm not getting my hopes up either.
Yeah, RH3 plays like 1&2. For me that's fine. I'm happy to give my dollar for a quality platformer any day, and especially to Ravenous Games as I've played the crap out of their games and got alot of enjoyment from them. I'm even thinking about making an in-app purchase to support them for not going the complete freemium route here.
I will confirm that Random Heroes 3 plays almost exactly like Random Heroes 2. Although I can't even conceive of that being a bad thing I understand those of you who wanted something groundbreaking or at least significantly different. If you happen to love the tried-and-true formula, then pick this up right away! There are however, some changes that I am really in favor of. For one, they added a timer so that you could gain that third star by beating the level within a set amount of time as seen in the masterpiece Mikey shorts and many other favorites of mine. This adds some replay value. Also, the difficulty has been upped but you can now sustain five hits, rather than the previous three bars of health. The catch to this is, you will continue the next level with the amount of health you have remaining from the previous level. Not that it's a big deal, because if you die you can just start the level from the beginning with all five hearts. I also noticed right away that it is much harder to find the hidden skulls. I can't wait to see all the comments about where to find the hidden skull on such and such level as we did in the Goblin Sword thread! As with all of the RH games, it would be much better if played with a controller, but Ravenous does not yet seem interested in supporting iCade for any of their games (except the League of Evil trilogy). But we can always keep asking. I can't explain the number of times I have taken damage solely because my finger does not hit the button correctly. Fat thumbs and what not. Regardless, I give this game a high recommendation. It is a really fun platformer with really cool upgrade elements and some new challenges. If you already love RH games, get this. If you love platformers and side scrolling shooters, hit buy now. Just as with RH2 and Devious Dungeon (my favorite game from Ravenous), there is plenty of action and fun to be had here!
