Kirenx Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2012 774 0 0 #3 Kirenx, Oct 24, 2014 Game Impressions My early impressions: - You can play offline! The single player campaign does not require an internet connection. You do need to register to buy cards and play online though. - So far it seems like a proper digital adaptation of the original card game. This is not something like Bam! was. - The interface is simply the best I have seen in a digital card game. The way they handled looking at cards in your hand is fast and easy, identifying and activating turn phases is super intuitive. Overall, the interface makes me wonder why no one else has ever got it this right previously. - Avatars and theme are closely linked to the source material. I only mention this because of the strange choices the Pokémon TCG APP made. - The game itself seems to run smoothly and the AI plays fast, allowing for quick and enjoyable matches rather than dragging things out. - Overall, I really like the look of this so far. Hopefully it holds up as I get more play-time in. chaos_envoys Well-Known Member Jan 1, 2011 1,330 0 36 Medical Doctor Pokke Village, Indonesia #4 chaos_envoys, Oct 24, 2014 Last edited: Oct 24, 2014 So.. Do we need to buy packs to obtain a card? Or cards can be obtained by playing the game only? I wish the original card can be scanned so we don't have to buy the card twice..... andysmash Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 2,067 1 0 #5 andysmash, Oct 24, 2014 Do you play Hearthstone? If so, how do these compare? Hearthstone is 100% perfection in every way, and after the awful interface of the disappointing Pokemon TCG, I'm very curious about this one. Even with as much as I enjoyed playing Yu-Gi-Oh back in the day, if the interface is bad, I will have a hard time caring. strivemind Well-Known Member Aug 11, 2010 2,784 2 38 Designer Ottawa, Canada http://www.strivemind.com/ #6 strivemind, Oct 24, 2014 Installed size? Vastly underrated. Aside from energy it played very very well. I'm assuming this is for ipad mainly because true yugioh (as of now) would be difficult to put onto a smaller screen. Bam makes it simple enough for anyone on an iphone to play. PBSNellie Well-Known Member Jul 7, 2013 1,381 168 63 Southern CA #9 PBSNellie, Oct 24, 2014 Am I missing something? I was confused at first but it works well enough, not that I wouldn't prefer an option. The "campaign" is perfectly fine for this game, it's just an emulator essentially for the physical game and in that sense it works perfectly. I'm not sure what Sanuku wanted but the times Konami have diverged from this formula have given us Forbidden Memories, Falsebound Kingdom and Wheelie Breakers. Ask any fan what they'd want on iOS and they'd say a faithful translation. The game's very simple too, that tutorial that "must be changed" is perfectly fine for a ten minute breeze through... While it was very pretty to look at, it was also a very simple game. I wouldn't call Yu-Gi-Oh complex, but it certainly has a lot more in terms of mechanics than Hearthstone. If you enjoy Hearthstone for what it is, Yu-Gi-Oh may be a bit too heavy on the requirements of good deck-building and strategic play. Yu-Gi-Oh leans more towards MTG in terms of depth, while Hearthstone strives to be accessible to the masses. This will create a fairly obvious divide between who is a fan of what. All that said, I still think the Yu-Gi-Oh interface is the best I've seen. Selected cards show on the left, allowing for rapid reading of an entire hand, and the multiple phases of the game are easily navigated during play. I've had none of the frantic clicking to skip an unwanted phase I found in the MTG games, and none of the confusion the Pokémon APP subjected me to. Everything is functional. I'm not even sure how long I'll play as I find I'm not as crazy about the actual card game as I used to be, but the APP is really well done on multiple levels. imaginedtruth Member Nov 24, 2013 8 0 0 Disabled Mulberry, IN http://www.facebook.com/imaginedtruth #14 imaginedtruth, Oct 25, 2014 Hmmm What I want, is a iOS iPad Air 2 only Yu-Gi-Oh game, that is the original 1st series Yu-Gi-Oh using the Kaiba battle arena type where monsters, traps, etc., are all animated like as if you were playing in the actual show. Sadly, in addition to putting off a lot of users on older devices, there is not and has still not ever been any card battle game, with anything beyond blah 2D, no special quality sound effects, in 3Dlike, animations to the cards. Even on a high end gaming device, like a PC or PS4, no one has done anything like that. It is a real missed opportunity to me. Maybe I'm spoiled by playing the old PC Battle Chess, Chinese Chess, Battle Chess 4000 games where the chess pieces animate and fight each other. Side note, I do also wonder why, since it's considered abandonedware, no one has released a more modern iOS Battle Chess type chess game either. Again, a missed opportunity. I think any good battling chess game or animated card battling type game, so long as the monsters, spells, traps, etc., were at least somewhat well animated. Any game like that could sell well, even with an IAP type system if it was also done well. One of the most important reason that i play yugi oh is card's art, playing this give me uncomfortable feel. So if you can make the card bigger and clearer, it will be perfect.
