Impressions: I like it so far. The freemium is annoying . The premium currency comes relatively slowly in game and you need it to buy the two other decks (you start with a tactical armour deck, and need to buy scout armour and Terminator armour if you want those). The timer part comes from your squadmates... each mission you can take up to 2 squadmates with you. You start with 3 to pick from, and get 1 more with each of the 2 armour decks. After taking a squadmate on a mission there is a 10-minute timer till you can take him again. Since the missions are long - they take about 20-30 minutes, once you buy another armour deck (which you can do in 2-3 hours without paying) you don't have to deal with the timers it seems. With another deck you can pick the 2 squadmates who are not on cooldown. Apart from that, the premium currency is used to level up - leveling up your own character gives you access to select a single special ability, higher levels give slightly more powerful special abilities. Levelling up your squadmates let you add a selection of 2 additional cards to their decks. HIgher levels let you select 2 more powerful cards, but you can only ever add 2 cards (ie going up 3 levels doesn't let you add 6 cards). It doesn't seemt hat levelling up your character or your squadmates is anywhere near as important as buying the other 2 armour decks. The abilities/cards are very minor advantages (probably make you 5-10% more effective at most), vs having a choice of different armour and squadmates. The game mechanics work quite well. it's a bit immersion breaking because each marine seems to always have a huge selection of different weapons (the same guy can use bolters, heavy bolters, missile launchers, pistols, swords in the same mission on different turns as if he is carrying around an arsenal on his back. Missions are tough but not impossible. I often end up barely winning. You do feel that you have to work to win missions, which is nice. PVP is not in game yet but the button for it says Coming Soon I like this enough to be tempted to drop money on IAP. However, it would be much better if they just charged $10 and made you build up XP in game instead of premium currency. And their existing cards also get an upgrade every 2 levels or so. By the way Scout armor unlock gives you a thunderwolf card which can be used in any of three decks, which is really nice. dalbertson Well-Known Member Jan 25, 2011 485 2 18 #18 dalbertson, Oct 2, 2014 I made a ZA account to try it out on my mini retina but it would never load, just gets to the loading screen. djstout Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 2,685 105 63 Sportscaster & football (soccer) coach Taiwan & Japan #19 djstout, Oct 2, 2014 I was waiting for that game so badly but then I saw "internet connection" "F2P" and "iPad only"...
