Looks and sounds fantastic, and plays well on my iPad 4. The gameplay seems pretty simple though. Probably not a game I'll stay interested in for long, but it's fun. Edit: After playing some more, I'm finding I have a big problem with the game not registering my upward swipes, so I don't jump when I meant to. Probably half my crashes are because of it not jumping when I tried to. I'm pretty sure it's a matter of technique on my part, but I wish it was more sensitive about registering swipes. At least on the iPad it seems to require a fairly large and fast swipe to register. jn2002dk Well-Known Member May 22, 2009 433 1 0 Denmark #6 jn2002dk, Sep 25, 2014 I really like a lot about this game. The art direction is fantastic, the controls are great and the soundtrack is great too. However, i see no option to pay to disable ads which is a deal breaker for me psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,972 722 113 England #7 psj3809, Sep 25, 2014 Just contact them... http://shreditgame.com/ More people who ask them things like that they may release a version to disable ad's etc jn2002dk Well-Known Member May 22, 2009 433 1 0 Denmark #8 jn2002dk, Sep 25, 2014 Good idea Will do Tonk Montana Well-Known Member Oct 28, 2010 391 0 16 #9 Tonk Montana, Sep 25, 2014 I have been playing this too becuase I love board games and the art style is excellent. Unfortunately to controls are really poor, the boundaries of many obstacles are unclear so you hit them unexpectedly and the currency accumulation rate is abysmally poor (for obvious Freemium reasons). If they made it a paid App and fixed the horrible controls, I could see myself loving it. As it is, it probably won't last on my Ipad until the morning. A shame. ShredIt! Well-Known Member Sep 25, 2014 69 0 0 #10 ShredIt!, Sep 25, 2014 Hi Bilboa, Firstly, glad you like how it looks and sounds. Our goal was to make the game simple - especially at the start - but we hope the increasing challenge and variety of obstacles and critters will provide a challenge to even the best players. Sorry you have found the controls tricky. We did a huge amount of user testing and tweaking on that aspect of the game, especially because a lot of people will be for the first time playing a runner that is not on rails and is landscape rather than portrait. With the continuous left/right movement compromises have to be made to make sure that the game doesn't accidentally jump when you mean to move and vice versa. Hopefully if you persevere a little you'll get a technique that works? Shred It! Support ShredIt! Well-Known Member Sep 25, 2014 69 0 0 #11 ShredIt!, Sep 25, 2014 Hi jn2002dk, Glad you're enjoying it, and sorry you're unhappy with the ads. Almost all F2P games need to have some form of advertising to help recover the costs of development - both the original development and working on updates. We have tried to make our ads as unobtrusive as possible, and followed the pattern a lot of the most popular games do - most of which actually don't offer a pay to disable ads. This was something we did discuss though and if people want that feature it's certainly something we can add. Can I ask you though where you were seeing ads? Our intention is that they are only shown as a banner at the bottom of the game end board, and from time to time there is a full screen ad on the main menu. We did at one point in development have a bug where the banner stayed on even after you'd left the game end board. If you are seeing that, that is definitely NOT what is supposed to happen, and I can well understand why you'd not be happy. We are working on the first update release, which is mainly new features and characters, but if that bug has reappeared it will be at the top of our list to fix. Regards Shred It! Support ShredIt! Well-Known Member Sep 25, 2014 69 0 0 #12 ShredIt!, Sep 25, 2014 Hi Tonk, Sorry to hear about your problems with the controls. Are you finding them unresponsive to jumps and slides? As I mentioned above this is something we spent a lot of time on, but we do appreciate that not everyone will come to the game with the same game experience and so may take a little time to find the mechanic that works best for them with Shred It! Regarding obstacle boundaries, the collision is actually smaller than the obstacles but I appreciate you found some confusing. All I can say is that our intention was NOT to make the game 'Flappy Bird' unfair. We want it to be challenging of course, but not through those kind of techniques. In relation to currency accumulation, in our defence, the game is essentially completely free and you can play it forever without spending a penny - and without having to wait or grind so you can progress. We hate games where you are disadvantaged or have to wait for ages for things to happen unless you spend money, and Shred It! is not like that. We would also prefer to make it a paid game, but I'm afraid the way the mobile game market is, unlike you, the vast majority of players just won't download a game with an upfront fee. Sad, but that's the way the game market is. All we can do is try to make the best game we can, hope that people like it, and that some of them pay us some money at some point - so we can continue to add new features and make more great games. Thanks Shred It! Support psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,972 722 113 England #13 psj3809, Sep 25, 2014 Yeah the ad's only on the menu screen at the bottom so its not too bad. But still i would like ideally an IAP to get rid of any ad's for say 1.99 so you guys also get some money Personally not having issues with the controls, going left/right fine, i'm glad its not tilt or that. LOVE the graphics, but like i say i would just love to get rid of the ad's. Many games have a 99c or 1.99 IAP to get rid of them, that would be ideal ShredIt! I understand what you're saying about needing to make sure tapping to turn doesn't get mistaken for a jump. However I also tried the game on my iPhone 4S, and it takes a significantly smaller swipe to do a jump or slide on the 4S, which makes me think the required swipe length is being computed relative to the screen size rather than an absolute length. Assuming your user testing included phones, then it would seem that people can play well with swipe detection being more sensitive than it is on a full size iPad screen. I think I might do better if the swipe sensitivity on my iPad was similar to how it is on my phone. Otherwise I find the controls to be fine. As someone else noted I also find it a little hard sometimes to tell whether I'm going to hit something or not, but I think that's just a matter of practice, and I think the collision detection seems fine. I think the ads are fine as well and aren't too intrusive. I would buy an ad-remover IAP if you offered one though. Overall I think this a great endless runner. I love the paper world look of it, and it's fun to play. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
