Usually contract games cut corners on GC and stuff. As far as the gameplay goes, I watched much of Sanuku's video (skipped to gameplay segments) and this looks drab with all the similar wall/floor colors and the general gameplay doesn't look to bring anything really new to the genre. So, for the moment, I think I'm passing on it since I'm not hugely into runners anyway. I was just looking into how they would implement a "maze" in this game, since that's what the movie is about. Seems it was just made to be confined spaces and limited pathing options like the usual runners so im not really that excited. Im still picking it up, but at least ive got my expectations in check. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #12 nightc1, Sep 17, 2014 That's always a good idea and typically the approach I take to games I'm not sure about. Looking back at Sanuku's video a little more, I see now that the more unique things this game does is: 1. It's not infinite, but level based 2. Because it's level based you re-run the levels to take other paths and collect all the clues. So there is some maze memorization and exploration required. 3. Failure due to death or running out of time doesn't take coins away but you lose any new clues found. So it looks like a lot of replay factor with each level to master them. I'd imagine deeper into the game the minor decisions made for left or right could get complex. The more I look deeper into the gameplay, the more I'm actually starting to get interested in it because it's not really the typical behind the back runner it looks to be. Maybe I'll give this a try when it shows up tonight. I can see also why GC leaderboards don't make sense in this. It's not a speed runner or high score game at all. Still achievements are always a nice plus. Maybe the dev will add some in. We've been working with Sticky Studios (the developer) and Fox Digital Entertainment (the licensor) on this one. As mentioned above, it is a level based runner which focuses on finding clues and individual mastery of levels to progress. Here is the trailer which gives you a better look at the broader content in the game http://youtu.be/iVymp81ys90 Sticky is already hard at work on updates to the game so there are more features and content to come. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #14 nightc1, Sep 17, 2014 Trailer looks pretty good. Overall, I'm looking forward to giving this a try tonight. Stubb, Sep 18, 2014 I've been a huge James Dashner fan since I was in grade school, and I never once would have thought we'd be seeing a video game based off of one of his books. The very idea would have made my 10-year-old self burst with enthusiasm. That being said, it's a damn shame they had to go and make it a cheap, generic, IAP-based runner. Don't get me wrong, the "runner" style game is a good and obvious choice here, (it's in the name, after all) but I can't help feeling they could have done more with this than what they did. rosepetel New Member Sep 18, 2014 1 0 0 #18 rosepetel, Sep 18, 2014 it is a nice movie bear-man Active Member Aug 10, 2014 33 0 0 #19 bear-man, Sep 22, 2014 Loved the books, but this is still a very basic and uninteresting runner. Anyone have any idea how that level can be passed without playing for weeks in order to get enough coins for another character? (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
