This pleases zerg Mythago Active Member Jan 1, 2013 28 0 0 #4 Mythago, Aug 7, 2014 I found the game way too easy and lacking in enemy variety. Hyper jump can be upgraded to reach the exit gate immediately, and destroying the enemies was't difficult either. Similar to Hoplite, the game "ends" on level 15, but you can continue playing. On my first try, I got to level 36 before getting bored and suiciding. pkMinhas Well-Known Member Dec 6, 2011 141 0 0 Software development India http://marchingbytes.com #5 pkMinhas, Aug 7, 2014 OMG! Moshfosh Well-Known Member Jun 1, 2013 97 21 8 #10 Moshfosh, Aug 7, 2014 Dammit now im #3 (woe is me). But on an actual productive note here are my suggestions and notes for possible areas of improvement. 1. There's a glitch when starting the game and your phone is locked in portrait mode, the game loses its marbles and forces the screen into portrait mode though it's still playable you just can't see anything. It's a really easy fix though all you gotta do is unlock portrait mode and it'll work...but adding a portrait mode would be pretty neat so I can play one handed. 2. What the other guy said is pretty accurate, if you max out your gun and jump you can basically murder/rape all enemies no matter where they are. At a certain point you can basically just jump to the exit. I can't really hold against you for how easy it becomes once you do that though partially because it's just how me and the other poster found a loophole in the game mechanics. 3. I know it just came out but some suggestions for update content that I think could make this game go from pretty good strategy game to a must have gem are a larger variety of ships, mostly the enemies ships because frankly that's the only negative I can think of about the game. Having a few other choices for your players ship as well would be really great too, with each having their own strengths and weaknesses (like a ship that can move two spaces instead of one, but it has less health) 4. Adding more upgrades would add some more depth to the players strategy. The only examples I can think of off the top of my head are when you shoot the neutron cannon it hits all enemies in that row, or the ability to upgrade and have a force shield where your ship can't take damage for a turn. 5. This last one is mostly just wishful thinking but adding multiplayer would be amazing, think naval tactics but in space. Having your ship armada face off against an opponent in an epic space battle of epic epicness would be...rather epic. Just the thought gives me a nerd boner. And to anyone on the fence about this I order you to buy it, the fact that I only see 13 people in the leaderboard saddens me. Let me put it this way last night I bought this and dragon quest 4 and I spent the night playing this instead. Also the dev is really active and seems to be a pretty cool guy he even friend requested me 5 minutes after I bought the game last night. Anyway, good to hear there are more enemies being added. I may be more experienced than the average player (been playing computer games since mid-80's), but I can say that Hoplite was a lot more challenging game. Especially those various achievements with restrictions on playstyle. Edit: In Short, I agree with Moshfosh. This game would benefit from a bigger number of different upgrades. I chose three health upgrades, but since I wasn't dying I just kept upgrading Hyper jump and the gun, with an occasional repair to get back to 6 health. anabolicMike Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2013 302 0 0 #12 anabolicMike, Aug 8, 2014 It's like hoplite. Moshfosh Well-Known Member Jun 1, 2013 97 21 8 #13 Moshfosh, Aug 8, 2014 Lol I wanted to see if I could break the game because I assumed the game code didn't know what to do past level 99, but no luck. My plans for v1.1: 1. Add 2 enemy ships after level 10: a) Turret: Cannot move & has a long range of attack b) Another alien ship with a -o- kind of attack pattern. Basically, you can't hit this one without the Neutron cannon. I am already working on this & should be able to submit the update by next week. 2. I would like to change the Upgrades but I am still fuzzy about what to put in there. Upgrading the Hyper Jump is killing the fun for most of you, so I can remove that upgrade. Adding a forcefield is almost equivalent to increasing the health by 1. What do I do... pkMinhas Well-Known Member Dec 6, 2011 141 0 0 Software development India http://marchingbytes.com #15 pkMinhas, Aug 8, 2014 A big Romulan laugh. Bwa hahahahahahahahaha... Super tough enemies are on their way, they are just busy getting their 0s & 1s in order 1. I will check the portrait bug. Won't be fixing it for v1.1 though. 2. I might end up removing the Hyper Jump upgrade. Will have to brainstorm what to replace it with. 3. Player ship upgrades: Expensive proposition development effort wise. I will contemplate this if the game reaches a critical mass. I don't have a lot of downloads at this point of time. 4. Upgrades: Forcefield is equivalent to +1 health. I don't wanna over power the neutron cannon else it will be a joy killer just like the hyper jump upgrade. Need more ideas ppl. 5. Multiplayer mode: Aha! Wonderful suggestion. And many thanks for the pitch. 18 ppl on the leaderboards as of this moment. I wanna see atleast a 1000 in there. Mythago Active Member Jan 1, 2013 28 0 0 #19 Mythago, Aug 8, 2014 Last edited: Aug 9, 2014 Removing the Hyper jump upgrade isn't necessary as long as you limit the upgrades to range 4 or so. Unlimited range is the problem, not the ability itself. I'm less concerned about Neutron cannon range, you can only kill one enemy / level with it anyway. Neutron cannon upgrades could also be limited, though. I don't even feel unlimited range is any better than 4 range. New upgrades would be very welcome, though. Unless I'm intentionally abusing unlimited range Hyper jump, I just get range 4 for jump&cannon both, and keep upgrading health, since it's the only other option. I actually liked the proposal for supercharged Neutron cannon (also usable just once/level). With limited range and being able to shoot only in straight lines it wouldn't be able to hit more than 3 enemy ships, and even that would require some maneuvering. Using the supercharged cannon could also damage the player's ship (but it'd still be better than being stuck with too many enemies). There could be a piece of alien technology (randomly on only some levels maybe), that would give some kind of boost if you managed to collect it. Perhaps it is needed to supercharge that Neutron cannon (but no self-damage in that case). Or it could be something else, like a cloaking field that activates after Hyper jump, making the alien ships unable to shoot at you for one turn. One upgrade could be a mine with one use, so you'd need to upgrade again to replenish it. Or some other one use upgrade that you could choose if you didn't take much damage and so don't need to repair. There are a lot of possibilities. pkMinhas Well-Known Member Dec 6, 2011 141 0 0 Software development India http://marchingbytes.com #20 pkMinhas, Aug 10, 2014 Last edited: Aug 10, 2014 Game Impressions A short gameplay video.
