Your mission is to select a fleet of warships, arm them by selecting their weapons, assign captains and destroy the enemy fleet. You'll have complete control of this mission, all the way down to what angle and how much power should be put into each shot. Battle Fleet 2 is at your command, Admiral! Battle Fleet 2 is the radically improved sequel to the original and has kept the “Worms” / “Scorched Earth” style angle+power mechanic, but now features full 3D modeling of terrain, ships, and ship hit locations. Hit the the engines and cripple the enemy's maneuverability, or aim for the command center and disable the ship for an entire turn. Ships are more realistic in which weapon compliments they can carry, and ship control is more intuitive. Battle Fleet 2 also now features Fog of War, allowing for stealth tactics and surprise attacks to be a viable strategy as well as adding the importance of using ships and aircraft for recon as well as attacks. With a full featured campaign and a variety of single play scenarios, Battle Fleet 2 will keep even the saltiest of sea-dogs satisfied. Feature List - Build your fleet from 7 different ship classes each with different hardpoint locations for mounting different weapons, different mobility, and different hit locations. - Use small caliber guns to pinpoint your shot and switch to devastating salvo mode, forcing all available guns to fire at the same location. - Equip your ships with a wide variety of weapons including AA guns, torpedoes, and different caliber naval artillery. - Utilize or neutralize bombers and recon planes launched from island bases, aircraft carriers, or cruisers. - Assign captains to each ship to determine the ship's turn order - Play the strategic campaign mode, random skirmish mode, full cross platform multiplayer, or even hotseat multiplayer. - Use recon to clear Fog of War and defeat enemy ground based airfields and coastal artillery. - Deploy Strategic Command Cards to surprise your enemies with special actions like deploying mines, sabotage, enhanced aiming, airstrikes and more! - Battle Fleet 2 features full 3D models of WW2 era ships. There goes the only game I was interested. jjdude Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2009 125 0 16 #7 jjdude, Jul 16, 2014 Hi Duke12. I'm the game's designer and that's a really valid concern. Here are some thoughts on why I added those controls. When it comes to naval warfare (especially for mobile) most games are either real-time control one ship at a time, or regional turn-based games like Axis & Allies. I wanted to come up with something that combines strategy and tactics while also adding a skilled direct control component of each ship and it's weapons. Setting angle and power felt like the right mix of tactics and skilled abilities, but it by no means eliminates tactics. Everything from being able to aim at specific components to maneuvering ships behind high points of islands for cover is available. Various difficulty settings let you make this aiming mechanic easier or harder as you see fit and grow within the game, and I am planning a free update soon that will kick up the difficulty further by removing all aiming aids. At the end of the day I hope the game provides a strategic ww2 pacific experience that is challenging, fun AND plays quickly. I hope this changes your mind about BF2, as I really appreciate your feedback. Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions. sugimulm Well-Known Member Aug 28, 2010 2,457 46 48 The last time zone for iOS game releases :( #8 sugimulm, Jul 16, 2014 How different is this from the first title? jjdude Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2009 125 0 16 #9 jjdude, Jul 17, 2014 What's new in Battle Fleet 2 The biggest visual difference is the complete graphics overhaul, so instead of a flat 2D game it's fully 3D. This isn't just a visual change, it also affects gameplay as you can now hide behind islands or try to shoot over them. Bigger ships, like Carriers and Battleships will be easier to hit because of their height, while smaller ships like Destroyers will be require more precise aim. Here's a few of the major gameplay differences: - Fog of war, so you can use terrain to hide from the enemy (and recon flights to scout FOW areas). - Ground units, such as airfields and coastal artillery. - Cross-platform multiplayer. - Hit locations, so you can aim at different parts of a ship and destroy components or weapons at that location (rudder, bridge, guns, etc). - More realistic weapons, so no more placing battleship guns on frigates each turret position is limited to a weapon size. - Larger battles, up to 12 ships per side. - The US & Japanese campaigns are not linear but instead open ended. Instead of doing missions in a storyline you can choose where to attack and how you plan to take control of the entire Pacific region (more similar to an Axis & Allies or Risk style). - Much better control system, more intuitive and faster paced. Overall this is a completely new game but it still maintains the elements that people loved about the original. Battle Fleet 2 is a turn-based game where you control a fleet of ships, whereas WG is more of a real-time action shooter where you control a ship from 3rd person. If World of Tanks works on iPhone then this should too. jjdude Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2009 125 0 16 #18 jjdude, Jul 17, 2014 Sorry, no iPhone support. The game kind of requires a bigger screen to enjoy it. As it's a tactical and strategy game there's a lot of units to control and trying to do that on a tiny phone screen is not that great. World of Tanks is a real-time action game where you control 1 tank from 3rd person, if BF2 was like that then we could easily add phone support. But when you have an entire fleet, plus weapons to select, aircraft to give orders to, an entire map of the pacific, it really begs for more screen real-estate. That said, I am exploring ways to adapt the UI to a smaller screen but I don't want to just slap something together that won't fit the game. I hate it when other game companies do that just to expand their audience. Just like there's no IAP in this game, I don't want to do something as a money grab. There are also Mac and Windows versions available if you don't have an iPad or Android tablet: http://www.battlefleetgame.com/ LarryWP Well-Known Member Dec 19, 2013 89 0 0 #19 LarryWP, Jul 17, 2014 No in battle saves, that's bad because these battles are long. Also the help info that pops up is timed and if you are not looking right at them and reading fast, they disappear before I can read them. They need to stay until the user dismisses them. I've missed all of them because they are too fast. Why is there not more information about what does what? No tutorial. The game is certainly beautiful, but these issues need to be addressed to get five stars from me. jjdude Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2009 125 0 16 #20 jjdude, Jul 18, 2014 The in battle saves are possible and I will definitely look into adding that in a future update. Along the same lines I am investigating the option of async multiplayer. Help info can be found in the in-game options menu, so in a battle press the Options button (gear icon) and the select "How to Play".
