You "save" the heroes by finding them in the hidden blocks? Where are the battles? Is it like Dungelot kind of thing? Whatever it looks like it looks good! L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #9 L.Lawliet, Jun 4, 2014 After playing the PC version I have to say it shares some similarities with Dungelot though there's a turn timer so you can't go around tapping every block to clear the floor. It's deeper than just that, but it gets the idea across, I hope. Definitely an Insta-buy for me! slothwerks Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Feb 8, 2014 267 19 18 http://www.twitter.com/slothwerks #13 slothwerks, Jun 4, 2014 Dev here The original prototype was more like Dungelot in that respect. I find clicking everywhere somewhat unsatisfying though, because there isn't any player decision making involved. When I saw what they'd done with Disco Zoo (Battleship style "pattern" mechanic), I found what I considered to be a great solution to that. I wanted to reward the player for careful, thoughtful play. To each his own of course, but that's the background on why I went with the approach that I did (If there are any mods that can help approve my account so I can get the dev avatar too, that'd be awesome!) Just played (and lost) the first episode, and I must say...it's fantastic. It's deceptively simple at first, but the mechanics provide a much, much deeper experience than one would anticipate. When discovering a third of a new hero, is it worth losing 2 extra turns to uncover the other 2 'parts' to have him join your party, when you've only got 10 turns left in total and you're on the 6th of 7 dungeons? You decide for yourself. Brilliant game. Brilliant. Jerutix Well-Known Member Nov 3, 2009 1,754 65 48 Male Ministry Oklahoma https://www.discord.gg/kingrabbit #17 Jerutix, Jun 4, 2014 Huzzah! Beat the first episode on my first iOS run! Never mind the 10 or so failed attempts on the web. Loving the game! New England Gamer Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2009 6,143 1 0 #18 New England Gamer, Jun 4, 2014 Thank you for giving me the opportunity to play a bit early! This is a great game and so unlike what I expected! So yeah as you said in that comment, take a bit of Disco Zoo and mix it with Dungelot and bam! Tales of the Adventure Company is born!! I am finding it very fun in the handful of times I have played through. SO much more to learn and explore though. First there is the discovery part of it which is quite like Disco Zoo but better - find the heroes or enemies based on a pattern. Then you must decide which enemy to attack, or which hero you want to join your party. THEN you must decide which one will be the party leader. Once you have all that straight - its off to battle. So far the battle has been totally a button pressing affair. Maybe there are spells or power ups as you progress? Once you are in battle and you defeat the monsters you may find a key to the next floor. And you begin again... However - you have only a limited amount of moves per game (99). And then you have a few tasks to complete as well. Mix that in with the effects that happen to you or your enemies based only on what you uncover. For instance some enemies might just hit your whole part just by revealing them. Some heroes allow you to add more to your party. Etc. Who knows what you might find! I highly recommend the game. I was hesitant at first but the solid SOLID gameplay pushed me into addiction. I can't wait to see and discover more (soon as I finish typing here...) Couple things to ask: - in the tutorial it mentioned finding a list of the quest objectives - I can't seem to find where you find that - or is it simply tapping on each of the enemies per level that tells you a quest? Cuz that isn't really a quest as much as letting you know the effects of each of the enemies. - when the game connects to Game Center it always loads the list of achievements that you have to close before you can play each and every time you load the game. Is that supposed to happen? Superb game overall. Will discover more and post! bigred447uk Well-Known Member Apr 16, 2009 1,241 3 38 #19 bigred447uk, Jun 4, 2014 This sounds like my type of game and it's getting praise from trusted TA long time posters who I respect their opinion wholeheartedly. I'll take a look at that issue -- that doesn't sound quite right. If it does turn out to be an issue, it'll be addressed in the 1.1 update, which is in the tail end of development at the moment.
