Even if I was a fan I`d wait for the inevitable price drop unless you want to pay the extra 3-4$ as a charity to the devs. colorsound Well-Known Member May 15, 2009 1,054 0 0 Video Game Developer / Photographer / Graphic Arti Detroit, MI #12 colorsound, Aug 18, 2009 I think this looks pretty good actually. Looks to have more depth than snood. I bought snood and it feels like a one level game that doesn't progress. At least this game has different worlds and themes. I can justify paying more for that. Problem is my latest impulse buy burned the hell out of me, dragon portals. I like it, but it went from $5 to $1 in a matter of hours of it's birth on the app store. kmacleod Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 1, 2009 1,865 1 36 Artist / Writer / Designer California https://www.afterpad.com #13 kmacleod, Aug 18, 2009 I've been playing for about a half hour now, and so far, so good! Love the awesome HDR(?) pictures on your website. ian1969uk Well-Known Member May 31, 2009 633 0 0 #16 ian1969uk, Aug 18, 2009 True, but the issue arises when, like Dragon Portals, developers release at $4.99 and then drop to 99c within hours. This just encourages people to wait and wait, anticipating the drop. If developers feel that the game is worth $4.99, then they should stick to that price so they are not seen to punish their most loyal customers who buy early. I have no problem with higher prices if they stick at that for a considerable time, these are still cheap compared to other games, but it can cause problems with such quick sales which put people off actually paying the higher price. kmacleod Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 1, 2009 1,865 1 36 Artist / Writer / Designer California https://www.afterpad.com #17 kmacleod, Aug 18, 2009 I'm not in NZ, sorry. All I know at the moment is that it is released in America - I'm willing to bet that it will be released overseas pretty quickly, though. There usually isn't much of a delay for that type of thing, especially in an app like this, where there isn't any content even remotely questionable. And thanks btw, glad you like my photos New England Gamer Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2009 6,143 1 0 #18 New England Gamer, Aug 18, 2009 I will never complain about the price of a GOOD app. I have a lot of games and many are well above the all hallowed 99 cents. What I will complain about however is the price dropping so quickly. I waited less than 24 hours for dragon portals to have its intro pricing and though I love that game and would have easily paid the "full" price, I would have been so mad if I was on level three when the price fell. Conversely, I don't mind price drops on games that I am well into, or finished. The way I look at that is that it opens that great game to a whole new market and will support the developer that made ME a good game in the first place, make another one. So, I will be waiting to get this game even though I was anxious for its release for so long. Sure I just spent $19.99 for the DS version, so this looks cheap, I just don't want to be one of the ones burned for being loyal and getting the game right away. It's not the matter of price but the matter of pride. Then again, there are games that have never dropped - Monkey Island, Rolando 2, to name a couple, sooooo, how long is too long to wait. IRT the game - some of the Bust a Move games I have played do not have a save function and you must start back at the beginning even in story mode and that gets annoying. Does this have auto or manual save? No save, no buy, no matter what. I love the tricky levels but that doesn't mean I want to repeat 10 of them to get to it. The new DS version has a save function. unconnected Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2009 141 0 0 London, UK #19 unconnected, Aug 18, 2009 Yeah I hear ya, customers just expect prices to end up at 99c now and that means that a dev has to be really confident his product is going to sell on merit rather than impulse buy etc (EA seems to have avoided price drops - to 99c anyway - for most of their apps and I assume they're pretty confident with their products) and with every other dev just dropping to 99c in the attempt to boost sales it looks like this mentality is pretty prevalent right now. Back on topic: still not here in the UK, if someone from good old blighty picks it up can they state as much so I can share in the bubble popping goodness! kmacleod Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 1, 2009 1,865 1 36 Artist / Writer / Designer California https://www.afterpad.com #20 kmacleod, Aug 18, 2009 I'm with you on the save functions in games.
