Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat. Key Features: - Give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle. - Pause the game mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and give orders. - Upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of seven diverse alien races. - Hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions. - Each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. No two play-throughs will be quite the same. - Permadeath means when you die, there's no coming back. The constant threat of defeat adds importance and tension to every action. Yeah the gameplay is a lot more combat, but still, how do I explain it.... err my enthusiasm for a steak dinner would be slightly diminished if I had eaten chops for lunch. killercow Well-Known Member Apr 8, 2009 3,784 3 38 https://twitter.com/killercow #10 killercow, Apr 2, 2014 You can but it's quite hard I love the analogy! I'm still hungry though Out There is a really great game. KiddToKmart Well-Known Member Feb 10, 2011 1,399 0 0 #11 KiddToKmart, Apr 2, 2014 *gasp* IT'S HERE!!!!!! Is it a fun game or you have to be into this kind of game to enjoy it? Vexka Active Member Jan 25, 2014 39 0 0 Australia #13 Vexka, Apr 2, 2014 I didn't even know what to think when I saw the post stating that this'll be out on April 3rd... And Infact, I still don't... This is a definite #instabuy for me, and many, MANY of you others. Haha, staying in a hotel in the next state on Friday, (day after it'll be released where I am) so I MUST take it with!!! Oh my gosh, screw plane sleeping, FTL here I come!!! VirtualBoyFreak Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Apr 26, 2011 4,801 85 48 Spain #14 VirtualBoyFreak, Apr 2, 2014 I am not too much into real-time strategy nor strategy games in general, but I can assure you I loved this one on PC. It has action, strategy, randomness, unlockable ships, sci-fi theme... It's perfect! Aventador Well-Known Member Jan 16, 2013 933 1 0 Student Croatia #15 Aventador, Apr 2, 2014 FTL is one of those games everyone likes, it's roguelike , Sci-if themed, some RPG elements and awesome soundtrack. This game will fulfill all your " I want to be a spaceship captain" needs , only bad thing is that it's too addicting. Bool Zero Well-Known Member Dec 14, 2010 1,922 0 36 #16 Bool Zero, Apr 2, 2014 Most games are "you have to be into it to enjoy it" realistically, so that's kind of a loaded question. As easily accessible as runners and match three games are I have to force myself to personally play them unless there is a title that really stands out, for example. In any case this is not an easily accessible game to the typical casual gamer and while it's not dauntingly complex there are layers of strategy and a learning curve. You are not just going to pick this up and be able to play it in a couple of minutes without a tutorial. With that said, it is one of the most rewardingly fun games and once you do learn all the systems you will find out why this is held in high regard and why most of us here have been clamping for its release. And I wouldn't say that it was slow paced as it has a somewhat hectic and urgent design that makes managing events very tense and satisfying. You should just watch some gameplay videos other than that one Eli did; ones of the PC version. I know I will be smashing the buy button Faster Than Light! Strategic, deep, expansive, challenging, so damn addictive. This is one of those games where you always have awesome stories to tell, stories where you survived by the skin of your teeth thanks to quick thinking or how one poor decision snowballed into some spectacular failure Hours and hours and hours of content and layers of complexity even without the Advanced Edition update and you'll still discover new things This is everything Star Command desperately wanted to be, but 100x better Bool Zero Well-Known Member Dec 14, 2010 1,922 0 36 #19 Bool Zero, Apr 2, 2014 Here, here!
