OT: This game looks absolutely beautiful. Almost tempted enough to delve into the dangerous world of buying NZ iTunes vouchers. I'm assuming it will be around £4.99 in the UK which sounds fine by me, especially with the pedigree ScotDamn Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 8, 2013 1,990 0 36 Wireless Sales Happy Daddy https://twitter.com/ScotDamn #6 ScotDamn, Feb 25, 2014 So this might be the best launch week in recent memory... So it's seems a bit deeper than the original, giving you more control. At least that's the impression I've had reading about it. BTW thanks Pete. You have been ON IT for the last few weeks. Ayjona Well-Known Member Sep 8, 2009 3,295 21 38 Freelance journalist and writer, amateur musician Stockholm, Sweden #9 Ayjona, Feb 25, 2014 I'm not sure what I can tell you that the app description on this very page cannot, but perhaps reiteration is the way to go here While the first was a pure RTS (though definitively an innovative one), this is a 4X game (turn-based large-scale strategy with a focus on building cities and empires, Civilization-style), where battles are fought in an RTS engine. So, simplified, you'll be doing what you did in the first game, but in between battles you'll engage in an equal or greater share of city building, expansion, diplomacy, espionage, and variety and flexibility in paths to victory and long-term strategic choices, all in stress-free turn-based glory L.Lawliet Well-Known Member Jun 28, 2011 6,405 420 83 #10 L.Lawliet, Feb 25, 2014 Last edited: Feb 25, 2014 Oh snap! This looks awesome. Though to be honest the first one wasn't bad for me but didn't wow me like everyone else. Here's hoping this one does the trick because of love the theme of these games. Edit: I saw the preview video.. is there no more actual.. battling? Like real time fights. I noticed that once the guy goes to attack the other army, the screen fades and he says he won. If that's the case, it's not real time like he said.. Unless he means real time like the battle is happening in 1 second in real life.. Terrain is a factor, as is unit type, flanking, etc. choosing to invade a neighboring province requires you to make your way through the surrounding terrain before you can try to take the city. As the previous poster said, make your strategic decisions in a turn-based environment, but tactical battles happen in real time. Super polished, with lots of replay value. I've been playing this for a few days now (I got it early to review it for another site) and so far, it's fantastic. Hopefully, the rest of the experience lives up to my initial impressions. Let's hope they make money with it... Ubisububi Well-Known Member Oct 8, 2009 1,088 9 38 California #20 Ubisububi, Feb 25, 2014 From the developer, who posted this in the upcoming games thread: At the start, we actually designed the Empire Management, Battle Selection and RTS Combat (AI takes over if you or a clan mate is not there) with async+realtime multiplayer in mind, but we chose to give it up in order not to sacrifice elements that wouldn't fit into a multiplayer experience well. This decision also enabled us the freedom to expand other portions of the Warlords like diplomacy, espionage and (story) events, so I think it's a good thing overall. Therefore, we haven't any real plans now to have Warlords become multiplayer, BUT this doesn't rule out adding various multiplayer features. I'm wanting for myself a Blitz/Skirmish mode where you choose which units and decrees (these confer combat modifiers or bonuses to specific units) to bring into a fight with other players, but I have no idea how hard the implementation is or if it's even feasible for us.
