The game can be very frustrating at times, but that won’t keep you from coming back for another try.» 4/5 - Will Raskin (148apps.com) «Orbital has got fantastic graphics and unfussy features. Come to think of it, there are really no negative points about the game. Good going, Bitforge!» 5/5 - Yoyo (iphonefootprint.com) ----------------------------------------- GAMEPLAY You must shoot orbs into a grid with your cannon. The orb you fired will expand until it touches a wall or another orb. Each orb contains the number ‘3’, which decreases by one every time it is hit. After 3 hits they explode and you earn a point. EDIT: Installed, the graphics are superb, they really do remind me of the particle effects from GeoDefense, but they just seem to look a bit better. Pure mode is nice to start you off with, but Gravity mode really stood out, imagine Bust-a-Move but with bigger balls and the size of the ball increases the force of gravity on the orb you shoot, so if you shoot it just right, very close to a large orb you can do some great curve shots. And the nice thing is it's all one tap, simply tap to fire (the "gun" at the bottom swings from left to right automatically). Great for the ride on the tube to work in the morning when it's too busy to get both hands up to play a game of Civ. The polish on this thing is amazing too, like when you've hit an orb close to the "kill line" the game zooms right on in on the orb, simple things like that add to the general feel of a well turned out product and this app falls right into that category. kalel39 Well-Known Member Jun 8, 2009 389 0 0 #7 kalel39, Aug 13, 2009 Looks really good, but how exactly does the gameplay work? Any reviews? NathanQuest Well-Known Member Mar 13, 2009 73 0 6 Cologne, Germany #8 NathanQuest, Aug 13, 2009 Wow - I LOVE it! Man, this is polished! I confess, I didn't want to download or buy it, as I am not a fan of those "shoot bubbles and combine three" games. But the cool video and screenshots got me. The game is funky The graphics and animations are top notch, the particle-effects great and I just love this vector-style which reminds me in the best of ways of "geoDefense". I played it for a few minutes only: The "gun" at the bottom rotates left to right and back and you shoot a ball just by touching the screen. The ball slows down and oce it stops, it grows unless it touches any border. After finishing that growing process it will show a "3" within. If the ball touches any other ball while still "flowing" the number of the standing one will be reduced by one. After "1" the ball hit will explode in a very sweet particle explosion. The game ends if any of your shot ball will come down too much and drop through the bottom line under which the "cannon" is located. I really love it - it will stay with my iPhone for a long time. I love the music, the retro feel, the effects and the style. Actually I don't care much for facebook-connectivity, leaderboards or multiplayer - which is all present. More important for me, it has this "only once more"-appeal. Thanks for that NICE game - which would have slipped if I hadn't read the forum! "Orbital" is a winner and easily gets a 5/5 from me unconnected Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2009 141 0 0 London, UK #9 unconnected, Aug 13, 2009 Sums it up pretty well really. STP_Tim Well-Known Member Apr 7, 2009 1,639 1 0 #16 STP_Tim, Aug 13, 2009 I'v had it for about a month and have played it more than most games on my phone already. It loads up instantly and starting a new round takes less than a second. Plus, very polished. High scores work for me... but I have had it crash a few times. Still, go buy this game. $2.99 is the perfect price for it.
