Was just about to ask if there was any sign of this. So far buying every single release tonight bar Duke Nukem (really didn't enjoy it on the 360 so not too excited about double dipping). It's lovely to be back to normal packed Wednesdays/Thursdays!
Wooo! Very excited to finally be releasing this game - very excited to hear what you guys think. It's a paid game (our first in a while, esp. at the 2.99 price point), no ads, and I think you'll find the IAP implemented is fairly light and completely optional. There are 2 currencies, yes - Doom Shekels and Evilness. Doom Shekels are used to unlock and level-up your traps and minions. Evilness is used only for in-game power-ups. You earn a fairly generous amount of both just by playing - Evilness is gained by completing mini-goals, Shekels by completing levels and defeating heroes. In part it's so you don't have to worry about hoarding currency of one type since they're used for different things. If Shekels were also used for in-game power-ups then you'd have to weigh using that in the heat of the moment when you're about to lose a level and being able to keep on your upgrade path.
Never heard of this before but sounds and looks very good to me, I think I'll probably be picking this one up tonight as I can see myself playing for hours. Sorry if it's stupid to ask on release day but any plans to update the game in the future? 3 chapters and endless sound great though.
We are currently discussing updates - nothing planned at the moment, but if the game is well-received then it's likely we will.
That's what I figured it may be, seems to be the game I want most of all tonight. Also wondering if you can comment on how long the game campaign lasts roughly? Of course endless mode will add so so much time to that still I'm guessing.
Happy to report that this is a really meaty game -- it easily takes the longest to complete out of any of the games we've developed for iOS. We've timed people to take as long as 7-10 hours just to play through every level, and even longer to unlock all content, get the best ratings, or dabble in the Endless mode.
Sounds good to me! so I seen the post about IAP and more than one currency and IAP not being needed. How is it implemented? Is it just a shortcut to unlock things faster or are there things that are IAP only? Just wondering about endless too can we earn the currencies during endless play? Does it save so you can come back to where you were on endless too?
The only IAP in the game currently is for coin packs and a coin doubler -- absolutely everything in the game can be unlocked without IAP, and (as with all our games) we tried our very best to make the IAP unobtrusive and ensure it doesn't feel required. Without ever spending a cent you will consistently be able to unlock and upgrade things throughout the game. And yes, you can earn both currencies in both the campaign and in Endless Endless mode does not save -- it's more of a "see how far you can go in one run" type of thing. Endless mode is treated as a "bonus mode" that you unlock later in the game, btw, with the big campaign serving as the main event Hope that helps!
PikPok was an instabuy for me but since Super Monsters Ate My Condo and the inclusion of gems, not so much. And this looks no different: looks great but its full of IAP and gems. Sadly, I have to pass on PikPok, again. Please go back to the Monsters Ate My Condo/Monster Flip era
Our friends at PikPok (who are awesome game design beasts!) weren't responsible for this game actually -- we (Grumpyface Studios) developed it with Adult Swim Games. Anyway, I don't want to turn every page into a discussion of IAP, but if you watch Sanuku's video I think it gives a great glimpse at the way the entire game is presented: with upgrades and unlockables that are able available to the player on a consistent basis without having to touch IAP (and the IAP serving only as an option for players who want to 'cheat' or unlock things quicker) Okay, that's enough about IAP from me One thing I'm very excited to see is the different strategies people employ -- with all the different trap combinations (many of which 'stack' and work together) there are tons of different ways to play the game and every player we've watched tends to play the game differently P.S. thanks for the awesome video, Sanuku!
