As Jstorm highlighted, don't neglect the northern tower platforms. Flame turrets are a great way to thin out the spawnlings so if you can get them earlier near where they spawn then they won't keep laying tons of eggs making them a real pain in the buttocks. Screenshots of my Carrier set-up: This is normal mode as I'm just testing something at the moment but I pretty much use the same set-up for nightmare except with the addition of an extra railgun, napalm and uranium. Napalm next to the wall is an awesome way to murder spawnlings. Also since the update the napalm charged attack is awesome!!
The fragmentation upgrade gives artillery turrets 1-3 a low chance to stun enemies for a short period of time. Feedback noted regarding the drone rockets. Jstorm has also provided feedback on this and we are looking at improving rocket behaviour for the next update.
I've started on the nightmare boot camp series, starting with one of the toughest maps. See if you can pin point when I start to sweat. I won't lie, It did take me more than one attempt to complete it for the video
\ Thanks- I meant the drone rockets btw, not the rocket launcher ones. In the past if you aim it at the floor below the meat cloud, the meat cloud gets hit. It was pretty cool.
Oh I see yes we actually disabled this function as it was unintended that the drone rockets damaged the meat cloud as they are air to surface missiles and the explosion radius is far smaller than say the impact of a artillery shell which does damage air units.
This is probably the furthest I’ve been. Maybe another wave or two if the AA gun actually prioritizes air. Even so, I think elite fresh wings got too much health, way too much. Also, I gave up on the plasma turret at higher waves. It’s useless against the red tide when “weak fresh” enemies require multiple tier 4 plasma turret shots.
Nice! I'll be interested to see if anyone can get much further than wave 40 with the next update. There will be some changes coming to survival mode which should include more tower platforms for most maps.
I think the major balancing issue is that the amount of the health and the number of aerial units are beyond what the MG can handle. At wave 30+, I am using nuke charged attack against meat clouds, and air strike against fresh wings because rockets simply don’t cut it. I think it would be better to have the third experimental variation for each turret, and have air dedicated variation. For example anti air machine gun, and flak cannon (artillery).
Oh wow very impressive hitting 42! I haven't gotten that far on any maps in the current release build. I hear you Jstorm. Changes we are considering for the next update relating to survival mode: Additional tower platforms exclusive to survival mode Rocket pods base attack and charged attack prioritise air units Slight cost reduction for purchasing survival mode tower platforms Increase starting credits for some maps which are particularly difficult Stop all monsters except zombies from spawning around the command centre on the Asteroid Mining Facilities (This is subject to change and we may let some monster types still spawn there but it will need testing) Tweak monster spawns between waves 15 and 30. (Especially 20-30 where the difficulty curves ramps up quite aggressively as most players cannot get passed 20-25) Increase time between waves slightly to allow players more breathing space to upgrade and prepare. BTW flak artillery upgrade is a really cool idea, maybe something that would hit a sequel though.
Next boot camp is up for anyone who was having a tough time clearing the infested structure on Uranus. Didn't even have to upgrade my command centre during that run. It's all about the railgun plasma when it comes to boss armour.
