So can you buy this from the first app ? Or is it only a totally seperate app ? Either way i'll be getting this later. Appletini Well-Known Member Jan 8, 2011 2,564 0 0 Ankh-Morpork #6 Appletini, Nov 6, 2013 Wee, finally – already downloaded and played for a bit. Kharé always felt like it was the undisputed favourite in the Sorcery! series – oddly enough, even people who didn't have the rest of the books or weren't into gamebooks in general still always seemed to own this particular one (especially odd given that this was the second book, and takes place in the middle of the story). To be honest, I can't even remember most of what happened in the other books, but several iconic moments immediately spring to mind with Kharé, among them the idol-kissing ritual and the Mantis Man. I will repeat the one request I had regarding the first book, though, which is to hide the device status bar, as having it present it is unnecessary, distracting, and just looks unprofessional, like somebody simply forgot to disable it. As the Sorcery! gamebooks are four parts of one overarching story, you'd be best served by starting with the first book and playing through in sequence, especially as the decisions you make and equipment you find/buy/steal can carry over to subsequent books, changing the way the story flows. BeefJerky Well-Known Member Jun 4, 2009 392 1 0 #15 BeefJerky, Nov 6, 2013 Hugely looking forward to getting this. Sorcery, for me, is easily the best gamebook to app translation and brought more to the experience. I loved it and played through it many times. Helps that the source material is great but I bought the earlier version made by a different company ages back and barely played that one so I think Inkle deserve a ton of kudos for doing more with the material. And I remember Khare being great (although it has been a long time since I have gone through it), so just very happy it's almost here. kaibosh Well-Known Member Jun 14, 2012 582 0 16 #16 kaibosh, Nov 6, 2013 What games would a person compare this to? Is this a slow and methodical pen and paper RPG? BeefJerky Well-Known Member Jun 4, 2009 392 1 0 #17 BeefJerky, Nov 6, 2013 Well it's an adaptation of a gamebook so if you have any frame of reference there, you'll be on the right track - Fighting Fantasy or even the old Choose Your Own Adventure series. It's like a pen and paper RPG but single player so multiple choice decisions which branch the story. Inkle have taken most of the book trappings out though and so, with this, it feels like a combination of a board game and a narrative adventure and it feels really smooth. Slow and methodical? Sure, you play it pretty slowly and you're taking it area by area. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #18 ste86uk, Nov 6, 2013 How long does the first game last? Thinking of picking both up but keep seeing comments that it's short? I've played all the other brands of game books I've found on the AppStore, funnily enough I preferred the Choice of games compared to the costly others. inkle Well-Known Member Apr 30, 2013 69 0 0 Games! Youngsters nowadays aren't used to reading long text beyond school books, they prefer fast and mindless button mashing and grinding ( can't blaim them for that though, market and games nowadays promote that ).
