Behind the Game: Hello, my name is James, I'm an indie developer and programmed 100% of Machines at War 3 over the last two and a half years! It was quite the undertaking and I almost gave up several times, but through bad times and good, I'm excited this real time strategy game is done! I hope you enjoy it and if so please let me know, sometimes when things are tough an email or review from a customer really helps. Game on! It reminds many real time strategy gamers of command and conquer, starfront, and similar RTS elements as modern war, and war of nations. Press Reviews: "Machines at War 3 has a variety unmatched by other RTS titles." - Nizulo "The number of units that can be created is staggering" - Armchair General "It's incredibly easy to get into, thanks to easy to set up games and straightforward gameplay." - Joyviews "An assault helicopter above, exploding, and a little trooper in a teal jumpsuit parachuting out. Maybe a nice visual touch in another game. Here? Well, shucks to that 'copter. You've got another pair of boots on the ground and a forward position to secure." - Pocket Tactics Information Seller:Isotope 244 Genre:Action, Strategy Release:Oct 02, 2013 Updated:Sep 27, 2019 Version:3.2 Size:187.2 MB TouchArcade Rating:Unrated User Rating: (17) Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel oooooomonkey Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2011 6,307 0 0 Forge World #2 oooooomonkey, Oct 2, 2013 I'll leave some impressions later on tonight after I've had a chance to play this, but the previous land sea air warfare was a great RTS game so I'm expecting this to be pretty cool. JBRUU Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,758 0 36 USA #9 JBRUU, Oct 2, 2013 I've played most the tutorial just to see if anything's changed in terms of units and resource management. Seems everything's about the same, except with infantry, prettier visuals, a story-based campaign, and online multi (which is huge!). The UI is greatly improved too! I can't stress now much easier it is to see critical information and have units/buildings do stuff with less taps. I don't like this static-y filter that unit voices have now, though. It's still super easy to build up your economy (which was half the fun from games like AoE) but I guess that allows you to focus more on the combat. This evening I'll sit down with it for a bit longer and give more detailed imps. Also can't wait to whoop everyone online! I'm glad you're liking the UI, the iPad still has a lot of room left and I'm considering adding more buttons, such as: create another unit, bookmark places on the landscape, quickly chat sayings, etc. I'm waiting to see what players want. bigjack66 Well-Known Member Aug 5, 2013 664 0 0 #11 bigjack66, Oct 2, 2013 This game looks good but suffers the same flaw as the other game I'm that the power stations only generate power once meaning that you have to waste money buying generators instead of buying stuff you actually need and have to cover the field in stations. Rasterman Well-Known Member May 10, 2010 309 0 16 Game Monger Tampa, FL http://www.isotope244.com #12 Rasterman, Oct 2, 2013 I don't understand. Do you expect to have unlimited power after buying a few power stations? What is point of even having power as a resource if this is the case? ScotDamn Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Jul 8, 2013 1,990 0 36 Wireless Sales Happy Daddy https://twitter.com/ScotDamn #13 ScotDamn, Oct 2, 2013 I haven't played the game. But I'm familiar with RTS. From his comment, it sounds like you place power stations which give you a one time power shot. Usually in RTS you have a power source that gives you a constant flow of power. When you move on to more advanced technology or more units, you would than need to place more power units to increase the overall power generation. Is the former or latter the case here? Either way I plan on picking this up in the next couple of days. Rasterman Well-Known Member May 10, 2010 309 0 16 Game Monger Tampa, FL http://www.isotope244.com #14 Rasterman, Oct 2, 2013 The system used in Machines at War 3 is the latter type, once you buy and place a power cell it provides power for the remainder of the match unless it is destroyed. I don't think I've ever seen a game where power cells provide a time limited amount, although the idea is intriguing To help alleviate the space requirements for power cells, as you gain tech levels in the game you can build power buildings which produce a lot more power per area, and per cost. There is also a Critical Reactor power cell which produces an exponential amount of power for the size and cost, but comes with the huge tradeoff of destroying a huge region around it if it is destroyed Xissoric Well-Known Member Apr 25, 2013 68 0 0 #15 Xissoric, Oct 2, 2013 Game looks really awesome, been looking for an RTS game since I was disappointed by Rymdkapsel. Rasterman Well-Known Member May 10, 2010 309 0 16 Game Monger Tampa, FL http://www.isotope244.com #18 Rasterman, Oct 3, 2013 You should be fine with skirmishes and the campaign, because you can pause the game at any time, issue orders, then un-pause, or set the game to match your play speed (0.4x, 0.6x, 0.8x speed). In online multiplayer however it might be harder.
