So glad that the first one did well enough to warrant a sequel! Can't wait to get knee deep into this one. =oD Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #8 Royce, Sep 20, 2013 This is great, best Game Stew release yet. I'm not sure why they took that tinge of color out of the background that the first one had. I thought that gave it more pizazz. _Max_ Well-Known Member Apr 19, 2012 1,500 0 0 #9 _Max_, Sep 20, 2013 Wow nice, surely couldn't miss this Nachtfischer Well-Known Member Feb 7, 2013 230 8 18 Game Designer Germany https://ludokultur.de/ #10 Nachtfischer, Sep 20, 2013 Wow, I've rarely seen a game being so open about being a pure compulsion app with basically no skill to it, that's just trying to get you addicted by exploiting your primitive urges through Skinner Box methods. It's not even pretending to be a strategy game. I guess that's a good thing... Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #11 Royce, Sep 20, 2013 It's a twitch skill game. You can play it completely randomly but I can imagine it would be pretty frustrating. You need to watch the wheels, note the patterns, and aim your predictable stop. ObsidianBlood Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2013 83 0 0 #12 ObsidianBlood, Sep 22, 2013 So how does this game work? I'm playing it and beat the first section of the tower, went back through to make more money and died and now my key and equipment are all gone? I bought the insurance, played a couple more times and after dying again my stuff is reset again. So I guess the insurance is a single use item? How am I supposed to make any progress on this game, am I playing it wrong? Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #13 Royce, Sep 22, 2013 You just have to keep the permadeath in mind and be careful. Early on spend your money upgrading things at your camp (camp upgrades are permanent, even if you die.). Then once you are making a serious run and have solid gear, get insurance. Always try to keep a couple of life potions on you as well. Remember that enemies go up in level every time you fight them, so you can grind for a while but eventually even the first section boss will become pretty powerful if you fight him enough times. Learn to watch the reels and aim your spins. Make use of the tavern to power up your character and make money. ObsidianBlood Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2013 83 0 0 #14 ObsidianBlood, Sep 22, 2013 Ok thanks, that will help! ObsidianBlood Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2013 83 0 0 #15 ObsidianBlood, Sep 22, 2013 So one more question, are you supposed to beat all the bosses and get all the keys in one run? Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #16 Royce, Sep 22, 2013 Eventually yes, but it will be easier if you spend some time upgrading your camp first, then get some good gear and insurance, then begin the game with that gear and an upgraded camp. It should certainly be possible to do your very first run but it would be pretty hard I think. Guise Well-Known Member Jul 10, 2009 2,027 14 38 #17 Guise, Sep 22, 2013 How does this compare to the original in terms of IAPs/grindiness? I liked the 1st one but eventually lost patience with how expensive stuff became as I advanced. Just looking for general opinions, I guess. Are IAPs necessary? Thanks in advance for any info or advice. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #18 Royce, Sep 22, 2013 I definitely think not, but then again, I didn't think they were in the first one either. In both cases you can get quite powerful and earn a ton of money in the tavern if you learn to aim your spins/stops. ObsidianBlood Well-Known Member Apr 10, 2013 83 0 0 #19 ObsidianBlood, Sep 23, 2013 Some more questions: What does forging do? Is it permanent? Can I only equip one item at a time? From the main screen when you click on the sword icon and then the one that looks like a pork chop at the top, what are these items, how do I use them? My only option is to sell them. I really want to like this game, so thanks for your help so far. kioshi Well-Known Member Apr 9, 2011 880 0 0 Brazil #20 kioshi, Sep 23, 2013 Last edited: Sep 23, 2013 Forging makes new weapons and armor, just like the ones you find in battles. You can equip more items if you buy the equipment slot upgrade at the shop (the extra slots goes away if you die and you have to buy them again with a new character, like the first game). You can only equip one of each maximum (one sword, one armor, one helmet, etc) The items you refer to are food, you can cook them at the camp. From what I've noticed, they are are used when you roll 'camping' (the fireplace symbol) when you're exploring the levels. They give ou buffs like 10% gold or 15% xp for example, they weren't present in the first game that's why I'm not completely sure. Tips I learned from the first: 1) you can always escape battles but you'll be open to an extra attack so run away before you have 1 HP or something. 2) always have a resuscitation potion and a zombie potion (stun is terrible and there wasn't any way to counter it in the first, now you can buy zombie potions or earn at the tavern). Bear in mind dying has a huge penalty so don't be afraid to flee battles. 3) all the camp upgrades are permanent. Fwiw, I'm finding it grindy but I also found the first one until I got into a good playing session and money was easy for me after that. Play the first one since its free for now, this one seems harder. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
