I am excited for this game, but I must admit that the graphics and enemies are quite behind other similar games, we can't really judge though until the game is out and you have it right in front of you, the gameplay look fun as well.
I had a different reply in mind but you're rhetoric and attitude ("deal with it" me, really? That qualifies as a reasonable reply anywhere but the schoolyard?) makes it clear an intelligent reply won't be necessary. I'll simply point out that you are in direct disagreement with the millions of people worldwide that buy iap every day. You are the minority and mostly irrelevant in a revenue generating system and no longer even part of the targeted revenue generating market that all devs and publishers desire and need to stay in existence. Perhaps you should just follow through on your thread where you are going to give up mobile gaming altogether because the market is now what it is and that's not going to change for a very long time.
No, not really. It merely points out that the exact specifics of what the iap actually buy has not been revealed but that it has been stated that they are optional and not the type of iap that is forced upon a player. I believe that would be two different points and in no way contradictory.
Favour in a price of $6.99. Take away Apples 30%. Take away marketing. Take away 2 full years of development. Take away premises, equipment, wages, staff, maintenance, etc, etc, etc, etc,. Take away continued development with updates along with all the other continued costs. Now come up with the necessary download numbers to cover all those costs before you make a profit. Now have a look at some App analytics sites, there's plenty there, and you tell me if a premium app has any chance in hell of actually making a profit without iap. It never ceases to amaze me that all these people can spend time complaining about alleged bad practices but couldn't be bothered to actually research the market place to any degree whatsoever in order to understand why these alleged bad practices are necessary in order to try and simply survive in the marketplace at all. The demands for higher end graphics, more quality games continue but when a dev puts in something that has a chance of helping them to turn a profit and continue, its "evil" or a "cash grab" or whatever its called these days. All forms of employment require monetization to make it viable. Breaking even on a game won't even be enough. At least try try and develop some understanding of a monetization based system. The complete lack of knowledge or understanding of the marketplace and the App Store ecosystem is staggering. But of course the customer is always right. Wow.
It would be nice if the devs showed up on this thread to actually give their opinion on all this, ( meaning IAP's, Apple's review process) Some of us have been following this game for a long time ( 2 years) I understand they don't owe us anything but it would be cool of them. I will say this about the game, It already has me more interested than Dead Trigger 2. Aside from the nice aesthetics of Dead Trigger, it got bland fast. I really like the atmosphere, since this is a pre build. I won't judge the game entirely on that but it still looks good. Don't forget we still haven't seen any boss fights which make the game more interesting.
Good post Rip, A lot of people fail to see that. This isn't all black and white though as you well know. There are good types of IAP and bad. Good meaning the types that don't hinder gameplay and are purely optional. For gamers that want to get that weapon or item immediately and are not really interested in "earning it". The bad IAP is the type that without purchasing certain weapons, the game almost comes to a stand still or tedious grind, which is the type we hate. Let's face it IAP is here to stay. I think as long as the developer does it in good practice, there is nothing wrong. Just as long as they don't pull a " Dark Meadow" on us, lol.
This game is going to be like duke nukem forever, too much hype but actually only a standard game like others on AppStore! 2 years of development and the unreal engine that is not very optimized for ios! The interesting thing is the coop mode!
I'm cool with IAP in premium games BUT i'm not cool if there is a second currency. It's obvious that there will be items or stuff only available for this currency. If not, then why implement it? There is no reason to implement it if not for bypassing timers, buy "exclusive" and in most cases overpowered weapons/items, etc. Did i miss something? I may be wrong, tho. We will see!
Tapping on the screen will be dumb for shooting. Hope they add a button to tap to shoot instead of tapping on the screen.
Has anyone actually SEEN iAP? There have been games (very few, I will admit) that had dual currency but no iAP. If anyone has seen iAP, please ignore this post. I myself am 99% sure there will be iAP, but just thought I'd put that out there.
There will be a second currency in the game, although we spent almost no time on it. It is mainly in place so we CAN use it in the future, for this game/future releases. The primary release will come with very minimal iaps, and those revolve around slight player enhancements (cheats if you will). These items are irrelevant and up to the player to purchase. None of the iaps will be needed/necessary to play and enjoy the game through and through to the end. All weapons are earned in game. tognesimo- I don't think we have duke nukem status by any means. Try following some other games, and you will see our 2 years is absolutely reasonable for a start-up indie team. tso5818- There is a fire button, which you can see in the lower right hand corner of the video. The screen fire option is a separate fire option for players to adapt with. Sidgoku123- After you play the game, let us know if it is still too bland for you. We promise you will be on the edge of your seat sweating
Im with you here, but at least a pre-release build gives you the correct expectations. Anything better, and it'll blow your mind.
I'd like to hear the intelligent version of your reply now, since you didn't say anything useful in this one, except for insulting me with: "Haha you said: "Deal with it!", what are you? A dumb five year old?". How can you determine ones IQ based on the words/phrases one chooses to use? And I don't even see how that's an insult to someone who learns English in school as his 3rd language. Sorry that my word treasure isn't as big as yours, sorry for using a phrase, sorry that I can't speak such fancy words as you can. I'll try to use fancier words from now on, so I can impress you.
Well, I never called you a "dumb five old". That would be your interpretation and insecurities, not mine. Its actually quite easy to determine someone's level of understanding from their rhetoric. However, to be very clear nothing of what I said was meant as an insult. You can misinterpret it in any way you choose to suit your rhetoric but I'll be very clear, it was in no way meant as an insult in any shape or form. I was merely pointing out that those who have no understanding whatsoever of the economic environment in which they choose to comment on and criticise should try and develop some degree of understanding of said economic environment before commenting or criticising. The final interpretation is down to your own level of understanding. Don't worry though, "fancier" words won't impress me. Some level of understanding beyond determining all iap as "evil" and "wrong" might though. I don't see that happening anytime soon though. End of story. I'm done with this rhetoric and pointless "discussion" at this stage so please don't waste my time and yours by replying. You're time would be better spent reading some of the various app analytic sites and studies that are out there on Google in order to understand why iap is a necessary "evil" as opposed to attempting to engage in a flame war with me that you will always lose because the revenue market is far larger than one disgruntled gamer on some forum somewhere who hates iap, yet millions of other people buy into it every day of the week.
Try looking back at the previous page where Tyler, a senior member of the development team, addresses the iap concerns that some people seem to have developed through a knee jerk reaction. Context is as important here as in all things so try accounting for it before you attempt to engage in whatever you're attempting to with the rest of you post. As for the rest of what you say, I do believe Tyler directed a reply/comment in your direction. Try reading it.
you didn't like the game's currencies so ok you can ignore it you don't have to get in here and react like that as Tyler said, the other currency is for the future, the iap now is for people who WANT it,and we don't have to pay to get all the weapons yes, there are actually people do not have enough patience to pass the game in about 8hrs so they decide to purchase in-game currency, the devs knew that so they put iap in their game, that's all
the second currency for future might be earned in some places to just unlock cool new stuff for the updates it's like you use different currencies in different countries you said that Tyler is protecting his game so why now you say that the devs are losing faith in their own game? if they do not believe in it so why do they have to introduce more videos, put iap,etc..
