Can't believe there isn't a thread for this yet. It's going to be an awesome two weeks for sports. Tuning in to swimming, track, diving, basketball, and gymnastics myself. Pretty impressive opening ceremony, but it was child's play in comparison to 2008 in Beijing xP. Well, discuss whatever here on the topic!
I'm bored of it already big waste of money and ruining TV as far as I'm concerned only semi interesting sports are football and boxing. Only thing more boring is the winter Olympics.

Looking forward to the Men's Swimming. Hoping Michael Phelps will win some because he's from Baltimore Oh, I absolutely love the Winter Olympics! And for the Opening ceremony, The rings were pretty neat, as well as the Queen and her son jumping out of the helicopter.
I don't remember how Beijing was so that made me think UK's was best one so far Disappointed how there wasn't much in the end except Torch, fireworks and Paul McCartney. I stated up for 3 am for an endinh like the footstep fireworks in China.
Phelps got 4th in his first medal event. Wtf?! Time for a new champion, I guess. He's had an amazing run though.
I'm sure I read at the time that the footstep fireworks were a fake special effect for television. I may be wrong, it was four years ago. I think McCartney was rubbish but everything else was spot on. The tribute to the bombing victims was really moving, apparently cut from American TV....a bit disrespectful really. Apart from the ex Beatle the music was the highlight for me, I dug out my Arctic Monkey albums on the strength of it.
Yeah I read that too, something about they couldn't do the actual fireworks due to the blimps/helicopters/whatever recorded the sky view shots. I read that some of them were real, however most were computer generated.
Women's basketball Russia VS. Canada Russia Wins Canada's defense was a mess at the fourth quarter letting Russia score 21!
