There are usually a lot of sales during the holidays. In December there is at least 1 free app a day event modeled after the catholic advent calendars (which produced a chocolate daily counting down to Christmas). See appvent. Sometimes developers hold big releases for this time but I can think of none this year.
Last year was ridiculous. I still remember the pic TA front page used to symbolise the rush: Santa on a motorbike speeding away with gifts piling over his head.
December 2010 was no doubt the best release month in iOS history. Spent $134.86 that month alone. Hit after hit was coming out, and there were many, many sales. Hoping for an equally awesome December this year.
Goodness... 135? That's more than I've ever spent. Although I'd be perfectly happy with that many good games coming out this year. I was just a lurker here back then.... Back on topic... Anyone have a more complete list of the games coming out tomorrow?
Coming Nov. 17th: Katana Jack AoZ Anniversary Bullet Time Extraction: Project Outbreak Raccoon Rising Homerun Battle 2 Wild Defense Wind-up Knight Snoopy's Street Fair Saving yello Popcorn dragon Oregan Trail: American Settler Did I miss any?
Extraction, Bullet Time, and Wind-Up Knight for me. HB2 looks pretty awesome, but I'm not into baseball games. Next week should be more exciting. Edit: Add the new AoZ to my list. Here's the trailer: http://twitter.com/#!/Halfbrick/status/136709454409371648.
Slightly off-topic, but didn't think it was worthy of opening another thread for. I've lived with the realization that every week New Zealand is the first to get iOS games, but have never really heard an explaination on why they are first. Is it just because the rolling release times allow any big issues to be fixed/removed from the store before it hits the U.S. (which obviously is the store's biggest market)? Nice group of games coming out this week. Definately have Raccoon Rising and Katana Jack on tonight's to-get list (unless some really bad impressions come through - guess that is one benefit to being one of the last markets to be released in).
It's because of the rolling time zones. In NZ it's already 11/17 so the games have already been released there. As each time zone enters 11/17, each time zone will release the games... Edit: This is obviously an over-simplified explanation
That's logical, but we get games on the East Coast at 11 p.m., so technically, we aren't yet in 11/17 at that time. And non-scheduled releases are often done similtaneously worldwide. Anyway, no biggie...just wondering if there was something more to it.
Good question. Their Facebook page still says the 17th. Fingers crossed... EDIT: It's out now everywhere: http://toucharcade.com/link/http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/snoopys-street-fair/id474517295?mt=8
So I think this I need to remind everyone that this thread still exists. My list for next week's releases is looking very, very bare, so any tips would be very much appreciated, or we'll see a very [NZ]-less Wednesday/Thursday night this week...
