Well my first gen iphone seems to be nearing its death. I cannot play higher end titles unless I am plugged in, or I will only get ten minutes of playtime on a full charge. And for casuals, I get about 45 minutes of full charge. But something interesting happened a month ago. Up until that time, my battery was actually pretty good. I could get 3-3.5 hours of a gameloft game on full charge. When I was flying, my battery said 20 percent after about two hours of use, and then died 5 minutes later. Then, for some reason only known to my subconscious, I decided to turn it back on by holding the home and lock screen button. I GOT 5 MORE HOURS OF PLAYTIME AFTER THAT. Never heard of such a thing happening. Anyway, my battery has deteriorated since then, getting worse and worse every charge (mind you its a three year old phone which I now use as a touch). Well I was going to upgrade in the next month or two anyway. Is there anyone else on the forums using a first gen?

Off topic-Does anyone know of a decent and cheaper rechargeable external battery I can get to help me through the next few months?

I picked this one up from BestBuy about a year ago when it was on sale and it's been great to me so far. It won't charge my iP4 all the way but it's a great supplement. That and it's tiny as well. It's about the size of a credit card and approx 1/8"-1/4" thick.

That seems like it could work for my cell phone too. Thanks I will look into it.

This is a known bug (unacknowledged by Apple) that happens with the latest versions of iOS-- when an app crashes, it leaves a memory imprint which continues to run in the background and drain your battery. All you have to do to fix it is do a hard power off (like you did) each time an app crashes. Had this problem with my old 2g device too :(

The weird part was that Ive never heard of even a 4g idevice giving 7-8 hours of gameloft games. This is no exaggeration. I started checking the time every ten minutes while playing to make sure I was not going insane. Sure enough, I got to play nearly 8 hours of my 10 hour flight.
