Tebius Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2011 347 0 0 Creative Lead//Witching Hour Studios http://www.witching-hour.net #7 Tebius, Jun 21, 2013 Not at all! Honestly, in this one, we're telling vignettes on how the world is progressing instead of a sweeping epic like Scourge. There is a main storyline planned, but we'll only be rolling that out when people are little more comfortable with the setting. Right now, we're focused on a multiplayer experience and building a community around the world and core mechanics. We're a small set-up, so we really need some traction so we can keep adding content to the game. (Oh, the stories we so wanna tell!) A game like Mercs is a big risk for an indie set-up, so we have our fingers crossed! Thank you so much! We're really keen on sharing our love of games and storytelling with everyone. We hope we do well enough to keep doing so for a long time to come! Someone mentioned in the "upcoming" thread (I think) to try and get coverage with board game sites. Sounds like a good idea, R:M plays a lot like a boardgame, so you should pick up some speed from there, too. I only know boardgamegeek.com, though... But I loved the game and I love async so I downloaded it ASAP. The first 15 minutes are truly awesome. Planning to spend the night on this. As a beta tests, I have experienced all of the brigades in their various forms as they progressed through development. I definitely have my favorites. Now that the game has launched, I'm back to square one along with everyone else. I'm saving up my coins for my beloved Black Brigade and I'll have to wait until the game launches worldwide on the 11th to throw down some cash on the special edition and extra coins. Edit: By the way, I'm curious do the devs of the other beta tests know how this runs on the iPhone 4? I have been playing on my iPad, but my wife and I have recently jumped onto Verizon's "free" iPhone deal. It's a bit older now, but I'm hoping I can still play Mercenaries relatively smoothly. If I download the game on a NZ account, will I be able to use the same game state in my NA account? (I'm assuming so since it's an online async game, but I just want to make sure). The scale of this game is actually absurd. I've only just finished the 'tutorial' and gotten into some of the army customization and already my mind has been absolutely blown in micro-neutron-sized bits. The degree to which you can personalize not only your army, but also your commander, banner and brigades is staggering given the amount of choices that the game offers you. The original Ravenmark campaign was a game I considered to be one of the best on the App Store for quality of gameplay and presentation, and Mercenaries seems to blow it out of the ballpark just within my first 20 or so minutes of play. The Codex, possibly my favorite part of the original, has been entirely updated and upgraded to a behemoth of an in-game encyclopedia on all things Ravenmark. My gushing about customization aside, gameplay is automatically familiar if you've played the Ravenmark campaign. If you haven't but you are a fan of TBS games in the vein of Advanced Tactics/Fire Emblem, it's somewhat like a combination of the two with some unique mechanics of its own. If anything, it's more challenging strategically and tests your skills on positioning, foresight and the ability to adapt to quickly changing situations. Unlike many traditional TBS games, each individual unit has an initiative marker (in other words a number indicating when they can move), breaking the typical mold of having all of one side's units move before the other's. This makes for a move-by-move dynamic whereby an opposing unit you want to attack at the start of the turn may not be there when the unit you move to attack it actually gets there. If you're at all a fan of strategy games, or just want quality gameplay on your iDevice, definitely check out Ravenmark: Mercenaries. Hey, it's free. My very long-winded $0.02. PS, Ian/Khai: How much does the faction you choose matter towards army selection and the brigades that you can hire? For example, if I'm Estellion and I hire a brigade from one of the other factions, is there a chance that the brigade may turn on me/not obey/etc.? I kinda just rushed into the game without actually considering this lol. jsrco Well-Known Member Patreon Silver Oct 15, 2009 2,134 1 38 Coordinator Seattle https://www.Fatthunder.com #19 jsrco, Jun 22, 2013 I think you get the base brigades for that faction and one with a captain in it. Which have mind numbingly awesome abilities. Oh and you get a bonus to strating faction rep. If you are smart you can get a bonus to all of the reps, I am almost in the positive for them all. Its all covered in the codex, which covers a lot of what happened in the first game if you need to catch up. They have really tweaked things from SOE and I can't explain how much fun it is playing multi. I will easily be dropping down for the top tier collectors edition.
