I enjoyed Mr. S on my 360, though I didn't play it nearly enough but I think that it's because of the kind of game it is. Seems far more enjoyable in mobile form. What is the IAP? I see something about a treasure chest, but? $3, totally fine. Weird possible consumable IAP? So is this a 'traditional' platformer ? I see it mentions left/right, is there a jump button as well ? Or is this a crazy swipe/tilt type game ? Just want some impressions as i've never played this, i'll take a look on youtube in a sec. The filesize seems massive but i'm interested to see how this plays MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #15 MidianGTX, Mar 28, 2013 Last edited: Mar 28, 2013 2D menu assets aren't retina, but they look fine. 3D models/in-game graphics are all retina. There is consumable IAP to purchase coins (yuck) which can be used to skip checkpoints, unlock levels and buy armor. I'm pretty sure the actual game is the same as the Xbox release, which means that none of these are required for normal play. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #16 MidianGTX, Mar 28, 2013 Left and right to move, tap anywhere on the right side of the screen to 'splode. Exploding is basically jumping, and kinda physics based so if you do it in front of a scientist he'll die and go flying off somewhere, if you do it on the ground you'll jump, next to a wall and you'll wall jump, etc. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,966 718 113 England #17 psj3809, Mar 28, 2013 Thanks, just looking at a youtube video. This is the way of the App Store. :/ It's funny how everything last week was IAP free and a few of us were hoping this would become a new (old) fad, but then along comes this week and...BOOM! Everything's got IAPs again. I've come to terms with the existence of IAPs and don't really mind them anymore, but yeah...it's just a liiiiiiiiiittle bit annoying. MidianGTX Well-Known Member Jun 16, 2009 3,738 10 38 #19 MidianGTX, Mar 28, 2013 Yeah, it's a little disconcerting. In this case I'm quite positive that ignoring the IAP will still leave you with the complete game as it was originally intended to be played, so there's no reason to boycott it or anything, but the store menu is shoved in your face a bit. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,966 718 113 England #20 psj3809, Mar 28, 2013 I'm downloading now and i'll give impressions later on about if its quite 'in your face IAP's' or it 'forces' you to buy it To me games like Star Warfare/Bullet Time are 'lite IAP' type games, to me its like a throwback to the 80's with a cheatcode to get infinite lives etc. It would ruin the game as once you put in the 'poke' (cheat) you would get tons of bullets or lives and then complete the game in a few hours (after you had been saving up a few weeks for it !) So if you get really stuck instead of deleting and getting frustrated you pay a pound or two to get lots of coins/energy etc so get you past that point where you were stuck for 2 days, so you can enjoy it longer. So when done right 'lite IAP's' can be quite good, a modern day cheat code/poke. (Of course there are many games which 'force' you to buy IAPs which isnt good). But dont be put off by some games just because you see the dreaded IAP. Look at Star Warfare Black Dawn, that has IAP's but theyre very lite and you dont have to use them at all. I'm hoping this wont be like that (still installing) (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
